Tom Delay is making the rounds today. Mrs S Esq remarked the same, overturned and acquitted is very rare.

That’s an Eastern White Pine on the R/S of the pic, and either another “Bloodgood” or “Red Dragon” Jap Maple (need to see leaves up close), behind the small Cutleaf Jap Maple, either a “Garnet” or “Crimson Queen”.

There’s no use in even trying to transplant the small Jap Maple, until leaf-drop after hard first frost, as it won’t survive the shock.

There are over 1,000 different Jap Maples, and I’d need to see the leaves more closely to differentiate between all the cultivars. I used to grow and sell about 600 varieties/cultivars over the years.

That is unusual. He was set-up and railroaded, bigtime, by the lib-dem scum in Austin.

I got a Green Thumb; just a simple Farmer.

You're in USDA Hardiness Zone 3 & 4, so a lot of the plants we used down here in Zone 7, wouldn't be hardy up there, but I'd design it and buy locally to make sure the plants would prosper. Just say "when". Heh.

So the big one is a Jap Maple? How valuable is that?

Note your state is split into 3 USDA Zones, not just 2! I'd probably buy plants from growers in the zone above you, to make sure they'd survive in a harsh winter, in case the cold moved south.

If you purchased a field-grown, B&B (balled & burlapped) replacement for that “Bloodgood”, it’d be an easy $8,000 - $10,000 just for the tree, not including the $4,000 labor/machinery to dig/transplant/install. Once your pool guy starts digging the pool, he’s gonna hit all kinds of tree roots from it and others.

Make sure they check for utilities, too, by calling VA Miss Utility 811:

http://www.va811.com/

A solid, competent contractor always does that before digging anything around residential/commercial buildings. They should have an account with them, and all utilities will be marked with different color spray paints, to warn the diggers.

Ooops, sorry.

You could be in TX, FL, CA, OR, WA etc, too...

That must be a new USDA map; I don’t remember so many states being so multi-zoned on the older maps.
