Exclusive–Source: McConnell, Cornyn Whipping Votes Against Ted Cruz
Breitbart's Big Government ^ | September 23, 2013 | Matthew Boyle

Posted on 09/24/2013 5:39:19 AM PDT by Timber Rattler

A source in Congress tells Breitbart News that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn are using their leadership positions to pressure other Republicans to oppose Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) in his campaign to defund Obamacare.

"Right now in the Senate, Mitch McConnell and John Cornyn are actively whipping Senators to shut down debate on the House continuing resolution so that Harry Reid can gut it with just 51 votes,” a senior congressional staffer with intimate knowledge of the situation said in an email to Breitbart News. “Unbelievably, they actually are leading the fight to fully fund Obamacare.”

The spending bill must clearly earmark how the money is to be spend, and it must explicitly state that no federal money or part of the budget may be spent on funding Obamacare.

If the law does not explicitly specify this, then it may be possible for the Administration to divert money from other essential government operations/defense programs and spend it on Obamacare instead. If the money is taken by the Administration from "must fund" government programs, then when these programs begin to fail from lack of funding, the Administration will be able to shame/extort Congress into paying for the programs that the Administration diverted the money from. Congress would likely cave and pass a resolution to fund the "must fund" programs that got defunded to fund Obamacare. Using this tactic, the administration would likely be able to fund Obamacare and the other programs.

Ted Cruz speaking on the floor now. Said he would stand and talk as long as he possibly can. Has he started a filibuster? Don’t know. Just turned it on.

Traitor Cornyn’s Contact Info:

Called 'em all. Mailbox full in D.C. and Houston ... all the others are busy.

I pray he goes the way of David Dewhurst in the next election. Both McConnell and Cornyn are worthless POS cowards ... just like every other member of Fedzilla's ruling class.

On Obama Care need to focus on the problem, which is not ObamaCare per se, but the fact that Democrats have enough power in Congress to block any attempts to repeal ObamaCare and, as we saw with the whole WTF situation with Roberts and the SC, they will stop at nothing including blackmail and intimation to get their way.

The only way to repeal ObamaCare is to get Democrats voted out of office in large enough numbers that Republicans have the leverage to do so.

ObamaCare is a nightmare that sold to the public by total lies. Even now, there is 60% opposition to it's implemetaion and as soon as the reality of doubling of costs combines with cutting the levels of care by a half and the rationing of care hits , people are going to be unbelievably angry at the false bill of goods they have been sold.

Low info voters can't get it in their heads that ObamaCare was designed from the git-go to fail so that the Democrats could force the country to accept their true goal of a government run Single Payer Health Care System. In fact, all of the elements of single payer are already built into the ObamaCare legislation in anticipation of the failure of the private system which is 100% guaranteed.

We know the private ObamaCare system will fail because the trial runs of ObamaCare funded under the original funding package went bankrupt to the tune of Billions of Dollars in less than a year.

The important thing to realize is that ObamaCare was structured by Democrats right from the start to fail, so failure is inevitable.

The failure of our health care system is hard to contemplate, but the idiots who elected and supported the Politicians who forced ObamaCare have really brought this on the country and there is simply no easy way out.

ObamaCare is going to fall no matter what and the only thing of importance now is what comes after the fall.

Once the reality of just how bad ObamaCare really is, there are going to be two options

- Single Payer pushed in a hard sell propaganda campaign by Democrats and
the Media propagandists

- Repeal of ObamaCare.

If the Democrats are able to pin this disaster on the Republicans, which they certainly will if the House tries to block ObamaCare by defunding, the Democrats will win the House of Representatives in 2014 and keep control of the Senate.

More importably, Obama will blame the Republicans so they will be vilified while Obama will cast himself as the protector of the people fighting against the evil Republicans and the Tea Party Cable and will become more popular than ever. Obama is a pro at this and the media will go all in to support him.

The end result will be Single Payer and the eventual destruction of the United States as we know it.

If the Republicans let ObamaCare go into effect and be the disaster the Democrats designed it to be, the Democrats and Obama will own it and the blame associated with it.

The media may even turn on Obama if for no other reason than to protect their own hides.

By the 2014 elections, The Democrats in Congress and Obama will have to call out the National Guard to protect themselves from being Tarred and Feathered by angry voters.

The Republicans will keep the House and probably win the Senate.

The Republicans will have a good chance to repeal Obamacare and force Obama to not veto the repeal by public demand.

Should Obama not bow to public pressure and veto the repeal, there should be enough shell shocked Democrat Senators to support an over ride of the Veto.

That's what we are facing at this point.

Trying to defund Obamacare is quixotic fools errand that will can't work and will backfire and result in the imposition of a government run single payer health care system and a strengthening of President Obama.

Surrender Party it is. Over a year ago I listened for 45 minutes as an R congresswoman tried to explain her vote to raise the debt ceiling. It came down to one thing-they were SCARED of how the media would portray them as starving the old people and not paying the military.

Same panty waist, no backbone thing going on again.

GO TED GO!

These idiots seem to want a third party.

At this point politically a third party and mass exodus of conservatives from the GOP is the only option left. Too many RINO's are bought and paid for. The GOP died in 1995 when after gaining a two house majority did next to nothing except begin a long history of surrendering to the left and increasing the size of the federal government and number of agencies. That surrender was so significant that "Bob Dole Says" and his merry group of Liberal Elitist controlled the 1996 agendas. It was also in that era that Newt political leadership wise underwent Neutering.

The difference between McConnell and Trent Lott? McConnell is from Kentucky Lott is from Mississippi. The difference between Ted Kennedy and John McCain? One didn't drive of the road and leave a passenger to die.

If the GOP won’t fight obamacare now they won’t fight it later. The careerist beltway types in the GOP will happily take the big donor and K Street lobbyist payola to “fix it”. Sorry FRiend, you are delusional.

Defunding ObamaCare is a counterproductive losing battle that will end up backfiring and sticking the GOP with the blame for the impending ObamaCare meltdown disaster in the making.

Fighting this ill advised losing battle to the point of actually defunding ObamaCare will result in the Republicans losing the war for our country

Actually defundign ObamacCare, as opposed to fighting to repeal (and defund) it as hard as possible and put Democrats on record as supporting the imposition of ObamaCare, will backfire and almost certainly result in government controlled single payer healthcare, which would be a disaster.

Never fight a war you can't win

The GOP isn’t fighting obamacare. There is simply no engaged debate on the issue by the GOP leadership.

My advice is listen Cruz right now. He is listening specific people harmed by obamacare. Why isn’t the GOP running TV ads doing the same? It can only be because a lot of the GOP want obamacare. Those are all regular folks that the GOP should be fighting for right now.

Anyway you spin it, by paving the way to fund kenyancare the GOP are not fighting for regular people. That is why they lose.
