Andy and Amy Mangione of Louisville, Ky. and their two boys are just the kind of people who should be helped by ObamaCare. But they recently got a nasty surprise in the mail.

"When I saw the letter when I came home from work," Andy said, describing the large red wording on the envelope from his insurance carrier, "(it said) 'your action required, benefit changes, act now.' Of course I opened it immediately."

It had stunning news. Insurance for the Mangiones and their two boys, which they bought on the individual market, was going to almost triple in 2014 --- from $333 a month to $965.

The insurance carrier made it clear the increase was in order to be compliant with the new health care law.

"This isn't a Cadillac plan, this isn't even a silver plan," Mangione said, referring to higher levels of coverage under ObamaCare.

If they don’t have health insurance then they have to pay the fine/penalty/tax to the IRS. It’s a no-win situation.

For a few years the tax will be the beter deal, at first by a lot. No-win but lose less.

Their deductible was probably $10,000 but now in order to meet Obamacare standards it can't be more than $2,500 at 3 times the cost.

It is shared costs and many bureaucrats, in government and in the insurance industry, share in the proceeds, thus driving up costs.

“Research international health insurance for the big things. It is available and will become more so. Combine heart surgery with a nice hotel stay and a trip to somewhere in the Caribbean or Thailand.”

“Medical tourism” is the keyword phrase. Tons of choices available. I expect the Nazis in the federal criminal syndicate to restrict travel to foreign countries for medical treatment. When that starts, it’s time to burn DC to the ground and kill all the fascist bureaucrats.

Who did they vote for?

Considering that the guy is a Vice President and lobbyist for AMAC (one of the more conservative alternatives to AARP) -- something the article ought to have disclosed, by the way -- I'd guess he voted for not-0bama.

“Well I’m the one that does the budget,” said his wife. “Eventually I’ve got that coming down the pike that I gotta figure out what we’re gonna cut what we’re gonna do, to afford a $1,000 a month premium.”
...........................................................
Maybe you could do what Obama does, Don’t cut anything, just keep spending and start printing your own money.

I expect the Federal government will restrict foreign travel for several reasons, one of them being that’s what totalitarian states do. They do not want their slaves escaping.
