FWIW, Rand Paul was there, and his questions not agreeing 100% with Cruz seemed to intellectually sharpen Cruz’s performance and alertness.

Rand is definitely trying to stay to the left of Cruz. His cozying up to McConnell seems to me a pretty blatant attempt to open up some establishment K Street/Wall Street cash for a POTUS run.

Really? You're calling Rand Paul the GOP-E? He goes off the rails every now and then, but he's hardly the establishment. You malcontents deserve Obama. You elected him.

Quit being a Surrender Monkey Deb.

I just saw rand on cavuto.
He says not one republican wants obamacare.
That it's unfair to characterize them that way.

It’s if they do or don’t want obamacare, it IS what they are willing to do to end it.

This whole colture vote is the key.

Too many are scared witless of getting blamed for a shutdown. I’m sick of ALL of them, sans Cruz & Lee for taking 21.5 hours to talk TO the American people, those of us who are sick of this crap.

Rand is talking in circles, typical political talk, it means nothing that they are against obamacare. DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. Arrggg

If the Republicans don’t defund obamacare they own it.

I don’t get Sowell’s argument. He says we should be focusing on things like Benghazi instead of defunding Obamacare, because defunding Obamacare “can’t” be done and it “distracts” from Obama’s scandals. But he says defunding it would be the right thing to do if we could do it. What “can” we do about Benghazi? As if it hasn’t been talked about to death by this point. It didn’t even get any traction in the presidential campaign.

Whether or not it gets successfully defunded or not is beside the point. Let’s put it this way, if someone in Nazi Germany couldn’t realistically stop the gas chambers, wouldn’t it still be worth their time to stand up and protest it? We didn’t defeat the Soviet Union overnight either. But did that stop someone like Reagan from giving speeches about it year after year until finally the last straw broke the camel’s back?

I’ve heard almost nothing about Obamacare from Republicans lately, but I’ve heard plenty about these other scandals, most of which, other than the NSA scandal, are MUCH smaller-scale. They won’t affect every single American’s life every single day infinitely into the future like Obamacare will. They won’t lead our nation to bankruptcy and destroy the greatest health care system that’s ever existed in the world.

I wonder how many people who have posted on this thread actually listened to the audio and all that Rand Paul said.

All he said was that it’s unfair to characterize some Senators like Barrasso who have fought Obamacare from day one as being for Obamacare just because they may not agree with Ted Cruz’s strategy.

I for one back Senator Cruz and his strategy 100% but to jump all over Rand Paul for this statement is ridiculous.

Rand supported Cruz on the floor during his “filibuster” and posted on Facebook this morning that he was heading back to continue to support Cruz.

Let’s wait and see what people actually do and how this all plays out before we start writing off anybody forever. And I hope those that have written Rand Paul off because of this did so after actually listening to and paying attention to the whole audio clip, not just because of a few words posted out of context.

Not many. This thread is 100% BS. Rand wins again. His detractors are all fools.

Well I listened to the audio, and on cavutto.
And I listened to him during their talk on the floor of the senate.
And also during his fillibuster.

I've been searching him for that something that was missing in his father.

So far I haven't found it.

But I'm making my own choices here, and I won't compromise this time around.
And I won't be swayed by anyone preaching rand paul's praises.

If he wants to be a leader he'll earn it. And it won't be by sticking his finger in the wind, or saluting people like me with one of those other ones.

Good for you.

That's fair and the way it should be.

I agree.

I like both Rand Paul and Ted Cruz although I don't agree with Rand nor anyone else 100% of the time. And although I support Ted Cruz and his position on this critical issue 100% I'm not about to throw Rand Paul under the bus and equate him with GOP-Elites like McCain just because he says that it's unfair to characterize some who have been fighting against Obamacare as being for it solely because they may not be in total agreement with Ted Cruz's strategy. Let's see how this all plays out in the coming days. I certainly hope Ted Cruz is successful and that Rand Paul stands with him in this fight.

Obamacare must be stopped.

I tried to give Rand the benefit of the doubt in light of amnesty, but now he’s politically dead to me. He’s in the same league as Jeb and Christie as far as I’m concerned - unelectable.

I know, you are repeating Cruz's history analogy from his all night speech. You don't understand why everyone such as Sowell and Paul dont just accept this analogy one as the only one.

Well others will have different analogies to apply.

You mentioned defeating USSR. I recall when Hitler ordered Paulus’s army to stay in Stalingrad and fight to the end for victory. So Stalin captured that entire army, one of Germany's best and crippled Germany's forces to fight future battles. It was a disasterous tactics. It was a disaster.
So Hitler called them cowards and traitors for HIS failure and bad decisions.

, The point is There are many options in this fight but some say that since so many, especially those who demand this action themselves expect it to fail, that something else be tried instead.

If Cruz wins for us and gets Obama to defund O-care he earns my endless support, Winning is winning, But if the idea is just to lose to prove an abstract point then I am not impressed.

We can’t win, so let us run and hide under the table and send out the RINO’s to savage the conservatives and side with Democrats!

Awesome strategy being employed by the RINO’s.

Heck we won’t ever move the country back to the right, why fight it? We’ll just argue with the Democrats a little, just enough to appease our voters, and then we will surrender.

Because if we are on the democrats side, we can win.

And winning is so much more important than standing by principles and doing the right thing.

There is nothing abstract in proving your own partys leaders are actually on the same side as the Democrats.
