Krokodil: A new twist on an old drug is as deadly as the animal
The Washington Times ^ | 09/26/13 | Paul Mountjoy

A new ‘designer’ drug from the East, particularly Russia, known as “Krokodil”, (Russian for crocodile) has made its way to Western shores and poses a most serious, deadly threat to abusers. This afternoon a poison control center in Phoenix, AZ reported the first known cases of krokodil use in the U.S.

Users and abusers get a flesh-eating disorder after their skins turns green and scaly (hence the name ‘crocodile’). The necrotizing flesh literally rots from the inside out (warning - very graphic images), exposing bone and requiring amputations. The results of krokodil use are antibiotic resistant disease and as in many cases in Russia, a slow, agonizing, drawn out death of decay and rot.

Not known for using better judgment anyway, just the ingredients should scare the so-called average drug abuser away. However, krokodil, inspire of the inpurities that cause the body to literally rot away, is a cheap method of replacing heroin. It is well documented the lengths a heroin addict will go through to get high, regardless of the results of their actions.

In Russin reports are of an estimated 1 million krokodil users; because it is cheap to make, the drug is spreading to other European countries, and now to the US.

Korodile is desomorphine, a narcotic analgesic eighth to ten times more powerful than morphine and is street made by using codeine and red phosphorus, scrapped from the tips of stick matches, in a similar method by which methamphetamine or ‘meth’ is made from over-the-counter pseudoephedrine.

The codeine-red phosphorus mixture is then combined with gasoline, alcohol, turpentine, iodine, paint thinner and hydrochloric acid and heated. It takes about two hours to make a batch.

I suppose the Government will ban matches now and we will have to use propane lighters or go back to rubbing two sticks together.

The druggies are going to have a quick death with this one. It may even cure a few of them from their habit if they see a few of their buddies die from this.

Under libertarianism this drug would be legal.

The libertarian party also says that it should be freely advertised and marketed, which means that it could be sold and advertised in a much more friendly and seductive manner than this.

OK, I'm missing the downside, here.

Mentally challenged people take a drug that rots them from the inside, out. They die, and no longer can vote four times for a Chicago crook.

Why should we care?

No, they can still vote from their graves.

We are overrun with BadLifes. If they want to kill themselves, explain why the rest of the world should care.

how does anyone live long enough to become addicted to this?

Putting ONE of these ingredients in your vein should be enough to kill someone.

Aside from caring and God?

How about money, does that work for you? We pay for these people.
Now the libertarian goal of legalizing all drugs is attainable politically as homosexuals in the military was, abortion, gambling, gay marriage and so on were, but ending welfare is not.

These, and all broken people and families and communities and immigrant citizens vote, and while they are libertarian on social issues and voting for such, it only makes them stronger voters against economic conservatism.

They and their resulting families and drug and prison communities vote libertarian/liberal on social issues and liberal on economic issues.

Under libertarianism this drug would be legal.

Under libertarianism they would have access to drugs that would not do this to them. Addicts are addicts and most will remain addicts. There is a small percentage that want to get clean, give them help.

Relative to those that do not want to get clean, provide them with their drug of choice and clean needles. They will eliminate themselves from society in short order. Society will be better by their death and they will not wreck havoc on society to get money to support their habit that will kill them.

Nonsense, libertarianism doesn’t keep the drug laws, it ends drug laws and prison sentences for them and cops busting them, raiding them and the lab operators and pushers.

The drug users that you would use tax dollars to supply drugs and needles to will still collect welfare on top of their free drugs, will impregnate girlfriends and create children and families who need support, and they all VOTE for more.

“Aside from caring and God?”

No amount of caring or God can help the vast majority of heroin addicts. They eventually will exhaust any familial compassion or obligation. They’ll pretend the Word of God impacts them - but only to get a free meal, money and/or the opportunity to steal something to sell for their next fix.

This seems much worse than heroin, based on the pictures posted in the link. These tortured souls are obviously not going to stop, no matter what - even catastrophic bodily decay does not stop them, only death, which seems rather certain for the addicts depicted.

What a waste of matches and gasoline. Why not douse oneself with the gasoline. It takes just one match to get the ultimate high.

I think people use this stuff because of the drug war. Otherwise, they'd just buy heroin.

The libertarian position is that it doesn’t matter, this drug or heroin or bath salts or meth or whatever future unknown drugs, combinations and cocktails that laboratories and cartels or an individual, or anyone can invent are all the same and they can be advertised, sold and marketed just like Cheerios or shampoo or candy.

ping so I can find this later and show the pics to people I want to gross out. Something worse than meth.

I can just see dad saying Johnny was on meth, but at least it's not Krockadil.

>"I think people use this stuff because of the drug war. Otherwise, they'd just buy heroin."

And instead of being able to buy it for next to nothing at a drug store, Ansell thinks it's wise to support a black market, and police state!

Might as well give up on him. He loves fascism.
