'A Somali Muslim has been hailed a hero after rescuing a mother and her three daughters from the Nairobi shopping mall as gunmen threw grenades and sprayed bullets yards away.
Katherine Walton feared she and her children would not get out alive after becoming trapped under a table outside a supermarket in the Westgate complex.
But they were saved by Abdul Haji, the son of a former Kenyan security minister, who bravely ushered them to safety as he fired back at the terrorists with a handgun.
His identity has now been revealed after his story was immortalised in an iconic photograph which shows him reaching out to Mrs Walton's four-year-old daughter Portia as she runs away with fear etched on her face.'

I think the reaction is at least as much directed at the perception of the cynical use of this man’s actions by the press as it is at the man himself.
Not all conservatives are alike. I wish posters would give some recognition to those that deserve it. I'm not very glad when I see this kind of bigotry. ;)
So my comment was to highlight the stereotypical muslim terrorist as you pointed out. I am glad we now know of one muslim who isn't into beheading little Christian girls.
I wonder if the hatred and bigotry you posit is the result of hatred and bigotry in the hearts of posters here or the result of actions of the group being targeted as a result of evil, hateful, and bigoted behavior toward those posters? You may wish to consider that question.

I agree with you generally—better to recognize that a third of the planet isn’t necessarily evil for having been born into Islam, and hard to form political coalitions if you dismiss and insult major racial and ethnic groups.
But that also shouldn’t preclude honest discussions about issues and demographics.

Conservatives and Americans in general SHOULD NOT be enamored of terrorists of whatever stripe, be they the feral "domestic-black savages" (not to be confused with good Americans who happen to have a dark complexion) or the racist Mexican criminals who overrun our Southern borders.
Unlike you, I can make the distinction and most members here can as well. In fact, many Conservatives here are black patriots or Spanish speaking Red-blooded Americans.

The press built up the Muslim angle but forgot about the ‘good guy with a gun’ part of the story.
