WASHINGTON Two months after Detroit became the largest city ever to file for bankruptcy, top Obama administration officials will be there on Friday to propose nearly $300 million in combined federal and private aid toward a Motown comeback only a fraction of the billions the city owes and a reflection of the budget and political limits on President Obama.
This first major infusion from the federal government, which administration officials say will not be the last, would be used to help clear and redevelop blighted properties, improve transportation systems, bolster the police especially around schools and overhaul city management systems wrecked by years of poor administration and inadequate resources.

Why not propose a bonfire of 300 million one dollar bills? It’s the same result.

Recall when congress appropriated funds for this purpose?
Neither do I.
How much longer should we participate in this charade?

You’re right. But hey, it’s just “government money.” What’s the harm?

Is $300 million enough to build a fence around Detroit?

I say they just drop a daisy cutter on Detroit. It’d cost less and do more good than $300M of aid.
No doubt to benefit the Muslims and the business that have taken over the area.

Obama is trying to get rid of our Nukes. Why don't we just drop a couple on Detroit? Problem solved in many ways.

Sure, it’s Obamas stash after all. If that’s not enough they can always turn to the Obamacare Slush Fund.
Of course there won’t be a bailout there would be
too much scrutanizing of the process.
300 million can be pissed away in no time with
very little in the way of a trace.

Screw this. The UAW took the money out of the peoples paychecks and drove the jobs out of the city. Make them bail the city out now.
How long will it take Dee-troy city gubmint to get that $300 million distributed to the local union pension funds?

Tearing down an old house shouldn’t cost any more than $3,000. And it should be a lot less if there are bids. That’s 100,000 houses to be demolished. Lots of fraud about to take place.
