Peoria, IL, the home of Cat. Hmmmmmm.
NIMBY has been transformed into BANANA.
They should step forward or STFU!
They want the place to be brick, or at least brick faced to fit the neighborhood. There are covenents. I don’t see a problem with this.
Read yesterday the community came together and raised the monies to make the house brick.
If I were him I wouldn’t want to live among these azzholes.
From the article:
“One caller backing the petition said that there was a ‘covenant’ in the neighborhood, requiring all homes to be built of brick.
“However, an investigation by Phil Luciano of the Peoria Journal Star found no such legal agreement in any local or county records.”
yeah how dare they worry about their property rights.
Same here. The neighbor claims they have covenants that say they must be brick, yet no one can find any official record. Just using it as a excuse to try to keep someone they don’t want out IMHO.
Perhaps it is an informal promise by the neighborhood to preserve property values. Perhaps the neighborhood would like to chip in to brick face the guy’s house.
If they don't have legally-binding covenants, they should shove it where the sun doesn't shine.
If his house plans are in harmony with local law, he has every right to build what he wants.
If I were this fellow, and at this point, they offered to pay for the brick exterior, I'd tell ‘em to drop dead, it's a little late for that, after trying to force out a decorated veteran. Let them learn to live with my nice, wooden house.
Besides, if the photos that accompany the article truly represent the homes in the neighborhood, then not only are these alleged “neighbors” evil, but they have no taste, as well.
sitetest
The original plans called for it to be built out of straw.
this is after all the socialist republic of Illinois. If he could, I would suggest moving to Wisconsin. if I could I would.
There properties have already lost half their value, what’s a little more, as long as it isn’t my property dropping.
Were I a thankful vet, I wouldn’t want to drag down the neighborhood values either - can’t people just get together ahead of time and work together?
Make the ‘hood a Galt Gulch and see values rise (in a hidden way).
LMAO
Snobs are everywhere.
I’d rather live next to this beautiful wood housed family than any of the brick house azzholes protesting him.
We bought a place next to a gravel pit. When they need gravel, they fire up the plant a few times a year. It is way down in a deep hole and doesn’t make enough noise to worry about. You can’t even see it unless you stand on the edge of the pit. The pit has been there 50 years, the homes are all under 25 years old. Once a neighbor brought around a petition to get the pit shut down. I told him in no uncertain terms what I thought of that. We all knew it was there when we moved in.
sure they are, so are lowlifes
