EMERGENT ANTI-OBAMACARE SENATE CANDIDATE BREAKS FUNDRAISING RECORD IN NEBRASKA
Breitbart Big Government ^ | September 30, 2013 5:32 PM

Posted on 09/30/2013 11:19:57 AM PDT by Hojczyk

A novice Republican running in a rural state has shattered fundraising records campaigning as the "anti-Obamacare candidate." In his first race for public office, Ben Sasse has raised nearly $750,000 in just eight weeks of the first quarter of his nascent candidacy, according to records being filed with the Federal Election Commission.

The massive haul highlights how lucrative campaigning against Obamacare can be for Republicans. It also underscores how deeply motivated conservative voters are to see that the sprawling healthcare law be killed."I am the anti-Obamacare candidate," Sasse said cheerfully. "Not only have I read the 2,300-page bill, I have actually spent years studying it and I understand just how devastating this will be to American businesses, families and taxpayers." It was Sasse's health care expertise and his outspoken opposition to Obamacare that inspired former Nebraska GOP chairman Mark Fahleson to draft Sasse to run for the open seat left by Sen. Mike Johann's retirement.

"2014 and probably 2016 will be about one thing more than anything else," Fahleson said. "It will be about Obamacare and the false promises and reckless entitlement spending that are set to destroy this country. And I don't know anybody who knows more about it and is more honest about the problems of Obamacare than Ben."

Sasse's campaign comes just as the crusade against Obamacare has hit a fevered pitch in Washington.

"Ted Cruz has finally shown the Republican establishment in Washington just how fed up voters are with the federal government and the notion that bureaucrats know what is best for patients," said one political consultant who advised the Cruz campaign. "That's why a guy knowledgeable about healthcare like Ben Sasse being in the Senate would be the most destructive thing to ever hit Obamacare."

The only discordant note one must raise is that this candidate is “drafted” by a former Nebraska GOP chairman.

The GOPe strategy by the way is run against Obamacare and exploit our emotions against Obamacare even though they have no real intention of turning it back.

Its easy to say you are on the same side as Ted Cruz but are you part of the GOPe using Ted Cruz or are you another Ted Cruz??????

That’s the question that must be answered about this candidate......

Sen. Mike Johann.

I have to admit that I’ve never heard of this guy. One 6 year tour of duty in the Senate and he retires????

What’s up with that?

Apparently, Ted Cruz he’s not.

In any case, filling the seat with an Anti-Obamacare Senator would be a huge plus.

He has no political record. That could be good or bad.

May be anti-Obummer. but was raised in a Liberal college. So at best he would be a progressive Republican. Or better known as a RINO after he gets elected.

Harvard and Yale guy who then worked in Boston.

Life and career

Sasse graduated from Fremont High School in 1990 and then attended Harvard University, where he was recruited for wrestling. He earned his Ph.D. in history from Yale University, where his dissertation on domestic politics during the Cold War won the Theron Rockwell Field (best dissertation) and the George Washington Egleston (history) Prizes.[1]

Sasse’s career began in consulting with the Boston Consulting Group, a global management consulting firm.[2]

From 2003 to 2005, he was chief of staff for the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Legal Policy; from 2007 to 2009, he was U.S. assistant secretary of Health and Human Services under President George W. Bush.[2]

What a ridiculous statement. Having gone to a liberal college, I can assure you that the conservatives ("conservatives", not necessarily "republicans") that emerge from there are about as conservative as they come. They also are used to expressing their opinions, daily, in a hostile environment. RINOism is a disease that affects the weak, it is not a college-born disease.

What a ridiculous statement.

ncfool has to be the biggest FOOL on the board today.

Is Ted Cruz a progressive Republican now, just because he happened to graduate from -- of all places -- HARVARD LAW SCHOOL?

FReegards!

No demonstrated record. How do we know this guy isn’t just another Marco Rubio or Scott Brown? Hell, even Obama swore he would vote against a program that included what he ended up including in Obamacare.

Of course you knew that Alan Keyes holds a PhD from Harvard, too, right?

It appears that you have both an unresearched, not to mention a gallingly mis-appropriated claim to wisdom on this subject.

It's clearly back-to-school time for you.
