Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and the Senate Republican Conference are gauging whether there is enough support to pass a one-week stop-gap measure to prevent the government from shutting down at midnight, according to a notice sent to Senate offices, which was obtained by POLITICO.
If there is enough support, the measure could allow more time for the House and Senate to work out their differences on a longer-term continuing resolution. It is one of several options the Republican leadership is pursuing, sources say.

He doesn’t really need to weigh it. It will consist of one page. All he needs to know is the Weight of a ream of such paper in pounds. If the printer uses 16 pound paper, a ream of paper weighs 256 ounces. There are 500 sheets in a ream so his proposed continuing resolution will weigh 0.532 ounces. In short, it won’t be worth the paper on which it is printed to the American people.

Senator McConnell, the Senate and House republicans have basically pushed all their chips into the middle of the table. You are all in. Now stand pat on your hand and keep your mouth shut. So far the democrats have not called the bet, they have stalled to see if you all will pull your chips back. You lose if you negotiate, recant, or pull the chips back. The chips are in. Shut your mouth. Quit negotiating with yourselves.

His problem is that unlike RINOs, democrats never let you off the mat. Instead they put a boot on your neck and apply pressure. He won't get this if he offers it.
