This might be Yosemites worst birthday ever.
The national park turns 123 on Tuesday, the same day that a government shutdown will close the park to all visitors.
Google celebrated Yosemites big day by creating a lovely Google Doodle depicting Yosemite badges to honor one of the nations favorite parks. Sadly, the anniversary comes at a time when no visitors will be able to visit the Half Dome, El Capitan, or Yosemite Falls.

According to the list of Google doodles from wikipedia from 2012 the Oct 1st bday for Yosemite is missing.
Today is NASA’s birthday - started operations on October 1, 1958. Surprised they didn’t do them.

They very rarely celebrate the same day on multiple years, the days wouldn’t be obscure then, and obscure is part of the point of the google doodle.
Well, the Sierra Club has been trying to close the park to anyone except themselves for years.
It’s time for the House to send the “National Parks Funding” bill to the Senate. Let the Senate or Obama turn it down if they dare.
I never thought it that way, but it does make sense.
That can’t be right. How could a national park have existed prior to the income tax?
The park is closed because government shut down. That’s why paid Government employees at work will be blocking the gates, and patrolling the trails,,,to make sure there are no people in the “closed forest”.
