Obamacare wasn’t nipped in the bud, and this is the result.

Famous last words in history:

“I say to my Republican friends, ObamaCare is over. It’s passed, it’s the law,” Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid said.

“I say to my Republican friends, the Fugitive Slave Act is over. It’s passed, it’s the law,” Democratic Senator Jefferson Davis said.

Why was this done in a way that would require 2-3 vote???

That’s just asking for it to fail.

“That’s just asking for it to fail.”

Maybe that was the plan?

Yes but they’d been doing so well and gaining. They also know that we’re paying very close attention and this wouldn’t go unnoticed. So I discount your assertion and wonder why the change.

Is there a budget rule or something?

Trying to make the senate/democrats/prez look like asshats? Unfortunately, it seems to be having the opposite effect. My only hope is that that effect is temporary and frigging people wake up. Wishful thinking....

This whole thing is damned frustrating for conservatives.

Nancy may not be able to stop the NIH bill tomorrow.
Boy is Harry gonna be mad if the House votes to let children get cancer treatment...

They need to go home and get a good night’s sleep, just like the Senate. Let Harry make the next move. It’s so simple!

Suspension is the ‘expeditious’ way of getting votes taken.
I assume there was political PR impact considered too.
There are more of these votes coming.

The failed measures were treated by House GOP leaders as suspension bills, meaning they needed a two thirds majority to pass. The parks funding bill went down by a tally of 252 to 176, the veterans programs by 264 to 164 and the D.C. government funding by 265 to 163.

He's not stupid. He's keeping the pressure on. The Dems just voted down three programs. Can you imagine those commercials?

Elsewhere in Washington, House Republicans were pressuring Democratic senators to meet them at the negotiating table to hash out a budget package.

The House appointed "conferees" overnight who would -- if the Senate agrees -- participate in a conference committee to craft a budget bill. Those GOP representatives held a press conference Tuesday to note that Democrats were nowhere to be found at that negotiating table.

"All of us here (are) sitting at a table waiting for the Senate Democrats to join us so we can begin to resolve our differences," House Republican Leader Eric Cantor, R-Va., said.

"The way to resolve our differences is to sit down and talk. And as you can see, there's no one here on the other side of the table," he said.

From another article:

House Rules Chairman Pete Sessions, R-Texas, said his panel would bring the three bills up under a rule on Wednesday, so Republicans could pass the measures with a simple majority. It’s an open question whether Sessions would allow Democrats to have a standard motion to recommit on the bills, for fear that Democrats would force Republicans to go on record opposing a “clean” CR through a procedural vote

This is brilliant strategy. They nail the Dems on the first vote, now they just need a simple majority to pass all three. Will he Dems vote for or against this time? We're winning. Learn to recognize it. These guys aren't stupid. Obama's poll numbers are crumbling. They're playing to win.

They were brought under the “suspension of rules” according to what I heard on CSpan. I guess it takes 2/3 majority. Wonder if they can bring it up in a way that only requires a majority.
