What furloughed federal govt. employees are experiencing is that private workers like myself all suffered through the recession of 2008-2009. Some are still trying to climb out of a hole. Many of us, including myself, took a 50% CUT in pay during that time period. However, we were glad WE STILL HAD A JOB. Many lost theirs.
During that same period the federal govt. increased their amount of employees and most never took a pay cut. In fact they received their cost of living increase every year. My brother works for the justice department. There was one year they talked about no pay increase and he whined about that.
All that being said, there is not a lot of sympathy in the private sector for government employees. We know there are essential jobs. However, we also know there many jobs that could be eliminated altogether.
So, welcome to the party. Suck it up.
LoL, suck it up? Relax, cowboy, and read my post again. I made it clear I’m fine with this, I’ll be ok, and people are making way too much of this. To me, I’m more focused on enjoying watching the marketplace implode. That’s a sight to behold.
