Exactly how did the free lunches stop? It is against Federal Law to do any type of income verification for free lunches. A violation puts DoE funding at risk.
Not here I guess. Turns out Momma filled out the paperwork and only claimed she was employed with 3 kids.
The school told us they do not request income verification unless something is brought to their attention.
When they were called to provide verification, they decided to just take their kids off.
That is what the school told us. I do know the Parents were pissed when the school requested verification of income.
Don’t know how to answer that. I think in Michigan they have to fill out some type of request to sign their kids up for the meals.
However I do know they were asked to provide income or need base info verification based on our calls and email and they decided to take their kids off instead of meeting the request.
Is that why the school is constantly trying to get me to fill out one of those forms??? My kids have always packed their lunches--I wouldn't make our dog eat the stuff produced in a school cafeteria--and if I were down to my last dime I wouldn't shame my kids by expecting them to take free lunches. I've told them a thousand times that we neither want nor need it, but they CONSTANTLY pester me about it, going on 17 years now (more than 1 kid in schoolm ya know.)
