This Is All About a Petulant President
CNSnews ^ | 10/4/2013 | Pat Buchanan

In the showdown over the shutdown of the U.S. government, the Obamaites tipped their hand yesterday as what their strategy is.

Taking a page out of Saul Alinsky's "Rules for Radicals," the plan is to maximize the people's pain — to maximize the political damage to the enemy, the Republican Party. What else explains it?Consider this:

Asked Wednesday if there were any danger of America defaulting on her debt, President Obama rushed to assure a reporter that, yes, indeed, there certainly is such a peril. Why would a president act in so perverse a manner, were he not trying deliberately to rattle or panic the markets? Obama's tactic worked. Thursday, the Dow plunged below 15,000.

This is all about a petulant president whose prize program the people do not want, but who insists it be imposed upon them, to assure himself a paragraph in the history books. This week, Republicans tried to pass legislation that would keep open all memorials and monuments, all tourist sites in Washington, D.C., and all programs for America's veterans.

Who stonewalled that? Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama. Why would Reid sabotage the funding the National Institute of Health. Why would Reid sabotage what is transparently a humanitarian act? Again, Reid and Obama do not want to ease the pain of the people.

They want to intensify that pain, ratchet it up, maximize it, to put maximum pressure on and do maximum damage to the GOP. The Obama-Reid strategy is, in a word, sadistic. They are inflicting pain on fellow Americans — to break their political enemies. And they can only succeed in sustaining their Big Lie — that it is Republicans who want to keep the government shut down — because of a collaborationist press.

...made it possible for Obama to walk into the WH

Why, that would be the PTB that gave us McCain (who would've annihilated the world by now with his wars) and Romney (who campaigned hard against fellow 'pubs but didn't stand strong attacking Obama).

The problem is the establishent global-corporatist RINOs who STILL want to cave and don't care about the presidency, as long as they get the power and kickbacks as the pathetic opposition.

Obama is who he is. It's the RINO 'pubs who are frauds, every campaign.

I'm hoping by now even the most ardent leftist is beginning to see through his tired tactics.

Being an Irish Catholic boy from the midwest I would not be expected to know a lot of Yiddish. but I had a few Jewish friends growing up and in college so I've learned a bit. I sometimes get funny looks from coworkers when things go bad on the job and i throw my hands up and exclaim "oy givalt!" . Or a coworker does something weird and i mutter "meshuge!" Yiddish is fun. I also like to confuse people with latin as well. I guess to a certain extent languages are like clever toys to me.

Oy

We do the same thing. I wish I knew latin. The kids are learning it. We were very busy in HS. Not enough time between choruses of kumbaya and reading I’m ok you’re ok in theology class to focus on the classics

My HS French comes in handy

You want a real glimpse of wonderful Jewish culture language and humor reruns of the Namny. Forget the whining. Her affection for her culture and devotion to God and fily come through Her mother brings it home so to speak. Well it brings me back to LI.

Congress and Obama passed a measure to fund active-duty military on Monday. But the Senate and Obama refuse to pass the other partial funding measures sent by the House, which cover pretty much everything people are complaining about being shut down. So now you know who’s responsible. The Repubs say open these things up, Obama says no most of the time.

“Active duty military will continue to serve—and will get paid, thanks to a last-minute measure passed by Congress Monday and signed by the president less than two hours before the government shutdown.”

Someone with cajones (I am looking at YOU Cruz) to sue the President on his single-handed changed of the law that has been touted the "law of the land". It is clearly NOT the "law of the land" if the President changes it on a whim.

Also, the law that Roberts morphed from a mandate to a tax is no longer the law that was in front of him.

It will not be popular, but when do we have our belly full of an imperial president who acts outside of the Constitution which he hates with all his being?

Actually, it was not changed on a whim, it was changed in a Tweet....literally. I am sure the Founders never thought that 1) a president would re-write a low after he signed it, or 2) a presidential edict could originate from a Twitter posting.

I think that’s a fantasy. I don’t think you can sue a President in the first place...and again, not the best way to defeat Obama. You are looking for something that suits your cajones/macho meter....I’m looking for something that will work.
