Congress, staff required to buy gold ObamaCare plans (Video)

Regulations issued by the Obama administration this week would require members of Congress to buy one of the top-tier insurance plans from the ObamaCare exchanges.

The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the House sent guidance to members of Congress this week, based on a directive from the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), that says they must choose plans from the "gold" level of insurance coverage, not "bronze" or "silver" plans. "Platinum" is the only higher level of coverage under the exchanges.

"For plan year 2014, Members of Congress and designated congressional staff will choose from 112 options in the Gold Metal tier on the DC SHOP," CAO said in a fact sheet that was emailed to Congress.

Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.) called attention to this requirement in a House floor speech Thursday.....

Term limits are a failure. CA has had term limits since the early 90s. You’re from AZ... do you want the nation to be as “successful” as CA?

Excellent point. We do have term limits. They are called elections. Why throw out the virtuous along with the wicked because a clock ran out? The wicked vastly outnumber the virtuous and term limits on the virtuous assures the wicked will always be a majority.

Consider it counter-propaganda. Now you should feel better.

Do they still get the 72% subsidy for it?

Why shouldn’t they choose “Gold”? It’s taxpayer funded.

If I were "required" to choose a "Gold" plan with a certain 70% taxpayer subsidy... sure. I'd take it too!

Did everyone see that old fart congressman argue with Hannity last night that he did NOT get any subsidy?
He came across more crooked and arrogant than the average elected criminal.

Gonna get his name for (late) retirement, ASAP.

This needs to be verified, before everyone going ballistic.

It would not surprise me if a Hussein flying monkey in the White House basement is circulating this to create a class of "irresponsible Republicans making stuff up to make Obama look bad..."

I don't watch fox or any television news anymore - not even Hannity.

Well, I do watch my local news in the morning long enough to hear local issues and the weather report. Other than that, I rely on FR.

Thanks for your report!

This is a delightful hoax that’s been bouncing all over the digisphere ever since October 1. Most of what’s in it is demonstrably false. Still, the fact that so many are believing this nonsense and perpetuating it is a good indication of the complete lack of correct information being perpetuated by those in charge of CommieKare. Whenever information is lacking, rumors rush in to fill the void.

Even CONGRESS cannot escape the grip of Obama’s Nanny State.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch of rubes.

This is the best thing i have read all week. If Congress is required to adhere to all the regulations of Obamacare that all of us are, I will explode in happiness (in more ways than one, mind you). That is gonan make some of its most militant supporters cave for sure.

I agree with Levin’s plan.. 12 years in the House or Senate total and that’s it. Attach to the term limits amendment (as laid out in the “Liberty Amendments”) that citizens in Congress must not legislate to themselves benefits over and above what any private citizens are eligible for. After all, we are not Communists!

We do have term limits. They are called elections

And how's that all working out?

When elections are rigged using the IRS as the bully I'd say elections don't matter much now do they?

Please explain how term limits are going to make rigged elections fair? If elections don’t matter, then term limits won’t either.
