A man who was critically injured when he poured gasoline over his body and set himself on fire on the Mall on Friday has died of his injuries, according to D.C. police.

The man was airlifted to MedStar Washington Hospital Medical Center, where he died about 9 p.m. Friday, said Officer Araz Alali, a D.C. police spokesman.

The man could not immediately be identified because his burns were so severe. Medical personnel will try to determine who he was using DNA analysis, Alali said.

I think of a scene from one of the Omen movies where Damien’s nanny hanged herself and while she was jumping from the roof to do the deed she proclaimed in a loud voice—This is for you Damien.

Having dipped more or less deeply into sin, humans can have some inkling. If we’ve persisted in unbelief at some point, then become believers (that’s most people; a few become believers at such an early age they can’t recall a lot of history leading up to it) then we know how sin can look better than salvation, or the blessed state to which salvation leads. Sin is a selective blocking or denial of grace. I am almost forced to conclude that even hell or the lake of fire has SOME grace, because God could hate its occupants to the point of literally nullifying them, simply not bothering to carry their existence into that part of eternity. Instead, God keeps them around. This doesn’t make hell a big merry party, of course. But being pickled in self chosen hate is virtually its own punishment. It’s those who are saved or who are destined for salvation who would find hell intolerable enough to want to come out of it.

Well there’s craziness and then there’s craziness. Buddhism isn’t Christianity and they dabble in spirits that are not godly, to put it mildly. Some of these spirits can confer superhuman capabilities.

How could a non-black person have a head that black?
I’ve know plenty of bald men in my life, none of which have ever had their head turn that dark in the sun.

Confused what you might believe he was, sure looks black to me.

All in all, it matters not, the poor soul died and it’s all rather sickening.

What should I say to a man who purposely set himself on fire?

HAHAHAHA bye seems perfectly appropriate to me.

Seems like he got what he wanted.
