Good. Maybe my son can get back to repairing submarines. You never know when we might need one.

If they’re going to pay them anyway, I don’t see why they were furloughed in the first place.

The House just forced them....

And the US Senate, did it and the Pres agree to paying the workers but won't agree to save young cancer victims?

How's that a "lose" for the 'pubs?

I’m wondering how long that will last due to this wording in the article you linked to (thanks for the link). Seems to me if this was the case, there shouldn’t have been furloughs in the first place or am I misinterpreting what I read?
-———Clipped from linked story:

The decision by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is based on a Pentagon legal interpretation of a law called the Pay Our Military Act.

That measure was passed by Congress and signed by President Barack Obama shortly before the partial government shutdown began Tuesday.

The Pentagon did not immediately say on Saturday exactly how many workers will return to work. The Defense Department said “most” were being brought back.

“If they’re going to pay them anyway, I don’t see why they were furloughed in the first place.”

With Obama, it’s all about perception.

The low information voter only knew from the MSM that non essential personnel is “out of work”.

Try that in the real work world of the private sector..

Did ya know there are now more unionized government employees than exist in today's private sector America?

The decision by Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel is based on a Pentagon legal interpretation of a law called the Pay Our Military Act.

They've been being called on it for the last few days. The Rs have been arguing this point that Obama/Hagel can make the determination to put them back to work.

RE :”'s that a “lose” for the ‘pubs? “

House throwing our money away paying for government employees to be off instead of work? ( we must work for ours)

Don't they get eight weeks vacation paid by us without this?
Why do they need this freebee too?
How is this justified to run up more deficits for this handout?

And these GSs don't even have to sign up for Obamacare either.

Not a win, a sign of weakness and losing. Its a cave,

Bring them back to work...........DEFUND YoBamaCare. That’s what we’ve been wanting since day one. There was no need to furlough workers or shut down parks. However, what has been done by the Yobama Marxists is classic “up yours America” Yobama. This should play well in 2014 if Republicans come to win.

Right now only the GOP house voted for this, not Senate.

Yes, I agree its a sellout to Obama and Reid to try to get them to stop being so mean to them on camera.

RE :”The low information voter only knew from the MSM that non essential personnel is “out of work”.

Hey, Rush has been embellishing the 1996 shutdown for decades now as a big win.

What he didnt tell ditto-heads is that Newt and Dole gave Clinton the CR he demanded AND it included back pay for all those who were off work and paid many of them overtime to ‘catch up’ ie more of our $$$ for nothing.

But to the listener its was a glorious victory.

This House didnt even wait till that. Giving more of our $$$ away making it a joke

Thanks You are right, 8 weeks is too high.

This says 2 weeks, then 4 weeks then 5 weeks after 15 years with liberal carryover.

And the only way to change it is to vote them out of office. I heard that 92& of incumbents are re elected. Why expect a different result with the same asses in ofice?

Why are we paying them with our tax $$$$ to stay home after closing our parks?

Why should they oppose Obama-care when they are exempt from it?

Most government employees are Dems and very liberal.

The ball is moving the wrong direction wit this.

What happened to all that ‘just follow my principles’ talk we were endlessly lectured about?

If we really want the GOP to get a break from Dems then they could praise Obama-care and claim it was their idea.

You have no idea what you are talking about. In the DOD most workers are retired military and are exempt from Obamacare because we are in the VA system. Those who,are not have to purchase insurance. I pay for a dental plan (a lot of money) but I am not sure if in November people will be forced on to Oabmacare. There are many types of fed workers we are not all GS employees. The majority of people in my area are conservative, very few liberals among retirees here. We have seen Obama and the Dims go after our retirement.

I know there are many contractors but are they getting paid for being off too?

I know the GSes here are off now and getting paid for it while exempt from Obamacare.

These are the folks w 100% job security.

That is also not true, none of us have job security. With the draw down GS positions will become redundant. They may be offered other jobs in some cases requiring them to relocate. There is no such thing as job security anymore. I am DOD so I do not know, about the EPA or IRS. We plussed up to support the war so we will see cuts. By law the agency I work for has to offer me a comparable position, Our funding runs out in 12 months unless renewed. I will either take a pay cut or relocate, with a child in college I have to work, we are no different than anyone else, just a different career path.
