Yup, we had a week of those once in the eastern Sierra. Closed the whole area down. They sent in the National Guard to dig folks out.

In ‘89 or ‘90, we had 36 inches of heavy snow in the Twin Cities on Halloween night. Next morning, I fired up the 8 horse snow blower and cleared the driveway. The snow plow truck didn't get by until two days later...
