Families throw off the cones at Badlands National Park in South Dakota

Tax-paying, hard-working families aren’t letting White House shutdown politics stop them from enjoying America’s beauty. They’re defying the orange cones at Mount Rushmore. They’re breaching the barrycades at Zion National Park. And now, the Badlands of South Dakota.

Noelle Bruno tweets that she and her family made it through Mount Rushmore despite the White House obstacles:

The cones need to be captured and repatriated to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Since they don’t appear to be very agile, maybe by USPS or Fedex?

There’s nothing to prevent my from getting injured or vandalizing the state land I wander on now. For that matter most national parks and forests are minimally staffed as it is and aren’t preventing anything now.

It wasn’t but a month or so back that a woman vandalized several DC monuments in the middle of the day.

Leave it to a liberal to get lost around Mt Rushmore.

Former Presidents pointing the way and they are still lost.

The government is not shut down, Barnacle. Surely you recognize this.

Who is closing all these places? Ghosts?

Why is 0bama doing this then? Because he is a criminal who is attempting to extort trillions from taxpaying Americans. He is a criminal.

The Nicolae moment is approaching. And 0bama is doing it on purpose. In his mind that he is king and can usurp the power of the House of Representatives. That’s why he will not accept that the HOR is doing exactly as they have for 230 years. He wants it how it’s been done since he’s been “in charge” - no budgets - just omni CRs. I’m glad HOR is frickin’ finally recognizing that this guy is trying to take over. He wants to be Commander in Chief AND he wants the power of the purse... as in king. He’s mentally ill.

He sees this as a battle to win power to control our money. That’s all. He’s a sociopath/pshychopathic common criminal.

You can’t be in favor of the government shutdown and at the same time demand that the federal parks stay open.

Strawman

These cones were set up to stop people from parking on the side of the road to prevent them from looking at Rushmore not visiting the actual site...

So you think the WWII and Lincoln memorial should be shut down when they are open areas accessible by a sidewalk?

“As part owner I give my permission to visit national parks, forests, and monuments.
Just clean up after yourselves.

They have my permission to visit my part too. “.........

I’m “all in”, go for it folks.

But as things stand right now, the federal government is in charge.

And you seem to be OK with that.

“I’m sure you just cemented your position on Obama’s “nice” list with your comment.”

It’s just the opposite. The people demanding that the parks stay open are in effect working against the shutdown. They are playing into Obama’s hands.

Obama will probably agree to reopen the parks in exchange for the funding of Obamacare and republicans will probably think that’s a good deal.

Just a thought.....
Wouldn’t those signs have been ordered and printed long before the Government shut down? They knew and planned that long before the shutdown.

Are you insane? If anything, people should go whenever they please. As to needing government goons to save us, do you identify closely with the Loyalists in our Revolutionary War? What a limp, defeatist attitude. Grow a spine.

Have you ever been to the Badlands? How the heck could they be vandalized? And the area is so large, how the heck would anyone know? Which leads me back to my first sentence.

Some folks don’t seem to understand that the federal government is shutdown. I’m sure they’ll have a chance to visit the federal parks and monuments in the near future. But they shouldn’t insist in visiting right now.

The people of the United States own these parks - not Barack Obama.

Barack Obama is not the King Of America. He doesn't own the sky, the water, the mountains, the oceans and the air we breathe - even though he thinks he does.

If the federally run parks must be shut down and 80 year old people booted from their home why shouldn't all federally run housing be shut down?

Why shouldn't Barack's mother in law be booted out of the White House?

Ridiculous, isn't it?

But no more ridiculous than the ass squatting in the White House telling Americans they cannot look at their own memorials, walk on their own property or go fishing in the oceans.

Some coworkers and I are headed over to Eastern Kentucky next weekend to visit Natural Bridge State Park and the Red River Gorge National Recreation Area (peak fall colors!). Natural Bridge is open for business, but parts of Red River Gorge are closed.

I'm definitely going to drive up through the Gorge to see what is blocked off and what isn't. I'll take pictures of any Barry-cades we encounter and post them when we get back.

Well, I agree. My problem with Obama is that he is going ahead with the implementation of Obamacare and is launching military strikes in Somalia without any funds appropriated by congress.

I don’t have a problem with the closing of the federal parks. The entire federal government should be closed, not just the parks. This is a diversionary tactic.

“I’m sure the King will allow us to cross the mountains in the future but his subjects shouldn’t do it right now.”

Andrew Greer, my many, many Great Granfather, was born in Ireland in 1730 and came to PA in 1750. In the "History of Carter County, TN" it states, "Andrew Greer and Julius Dugger were believed to be the first white men to settle south of the Virginia line (now TN) before settling on the Wautauga River in 1766. Andrew Greer built a hunting lodge, explored the area, traded in furs with the Indians and made trips to VA to see his family.

Andrew didn't pay much attention to what the King said, a trait that was commonly found in my family and amongst most Americans. We respect leaders when they recognize the limitations of their power and protect our liberties and freedom. When they don't, it can get rather ugly.

Democrats fought to keep settled law - slavery.
Republicans fought and helped to overturn it in spite of this same kind of irrational democratic argument. Hell we had a civil war that lasted years and cost hundred of thousands of lives to overturn that one.

Democrats fought to keep settled law - segregation.
Republicans fought and helped to overturn it in spite of this same kind of irrational democratic argument. We were called “wackos”, “anarchists”, and terrorists for years and finally forced CRA through in spite of democratic opposition.

Democrats fight now to take over control of 2 branches of government by consolidating the legislative branch into the executive branch. A war will be fought on this one too. Let’s hope our brave military quickly decides to oust the criminal. Because I’m pretty sure it’s now or no freedom.

0bamacare is just a battle in the war to end America. Senator Cruz decided to take a stand here. It’s a war against America - make no mistake. Hence the executive branch ignoring laws in order to punish enemies, reward friendlies, and further their way to the take over...ie exempting some entities from laws and enforcing it on others. Not just 0bamacare - illegal entrants to our Country, polling place intimidation, etc are all examples to illustrate that the executive is at war with America. In spite of the “shutdown”, the executive is employing people to “inflict the maximum pain” on Americans.

He is a criminal. He. Will. Get. His.

Come and get me nsa. It won’t be me who gets him - I’m too old and slow. But someone will.
