Well, if they get lost or injured hiking around mount Rushmore they shouldn’t call the government for help. Some folks don’t seem to understand that the federal government is shutdown. I’m sure they’ll have a chance to visit the federal parks and monuments in the near future. But they shouldn’t insist in visiting right now.

I can’t believe you said that.

Compliance boarded trains.

Rebellion has some risks, certainly. So?

A bit of history for you.... there have been many government shut downs in the past. In the 90s there was one for more than 20 days. Park areas with services were shut down but public areas were never closed nor was the national mall or fishing areas or portions of the ocean. Life went on.

Really? Get lost? On a state highway through a park? I’d say the odds are pretty low, like none.

Do you really think people are that helpless? Maybe some new generation is. If they are we need to let natural selection run its course.

Did you ever hear about Liberty? Ever hear the phrase, “It is better to die free than live as a slave.”?

Where did you come from? Why don’t you go back there? You might be better off. I know most of us would be without you.

Actually it’s quite the opposite. If the “government” is “shut down” they shouldn’t be using Park Rangers and other government workers to go OUT OF THEIR WAY TO CLOSE PLACES THAT ARE NORMALLY WIDE OPEN!

Mt. Rushmore Visitor’s Center—obviously closed. But to try to prevent people from viewing the mountain from private or state roads? No.

Gift shops and visitors centers? Most are staffed by volunteers anyway. Shut them if volunteer/private funding is available? No.

Closing private businesses located near parks and monuments? No.

Barricading Washington Memorials that are never staffed, open 24/7/365? No.

Trying to close the sea? No.

All these things COST MONEY THAT IS NOT SPENT DURING NORMAL OPERATIONS!!

The “Panda Cam” is funded by a private foundation. But it’s shut down.

Don’t be a fool, Barnacle Centurion. This is just the sort of thing that will lead to a new American Revolution. I say to the people “Occupy America!!”.

You sound like a fellow that might know the difference between s*** and Shine-ola. Do they really taste different or are they about the same? Your favorite?

Have you been to Mt Rushmore? There are clear sidewalks, no one hikes or gets lost. It is more important we defy the idiot in the WH over this game.

"If ye love wealth better than liberty,
the tranquility of servitude
better than the animating contest of freedom,
go home from us in peace.
We ask not your counsels or your arms.
Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you.
May your chains set lightly upon you,
and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

According to this article, 83% of the federal government is running as normal. Only 17% is in “shutdown.” The reason the parks, monuments and memorials are “shut down” is because they are so visible to the public. President Obama wants to use this opportunity to inflict as much mental anguish, suffering, pain and inconvenience on the WWII veterans and the American public at large as possible for POLITICAL REASONS, NOT FOR BUDGETARY REASONS. He hates America and this is his way to shove it into the publics’ faces. There is no reason to go out of your way to shut down these open areas that normally are open to come and go as you please when the government is running.

He is governing by temper-tantrum. He is being a prissy, petulant, punitive, juvenile, thin-skined little pr*ck.
