Like "Arab Spring", "the God Particle" was nothing but the vapid nomenclature conjured up by the media in cockamamie romantic style. The validation for Higgs Boson, with its vaunted, ridiculously over-the-top neologism, 'God Particle' the media just loves to tout was to be the very unraveling of the fundamental secrets to the Universe. Ye the only thing that got unraveled was referring to it as the 'God Particle' ever again.

Which begs the question:

What is a Higgs Boson made of?.................

Do I hear God laughing? Psalm 2:4? “He who sits in the heavens laughs. He holds them in derision.”

Interesting and impressive research. However the most daunting challenge in physics is to prove 0x0 does not equal 0. Until someone can demonstrate that seemingly impossible equation, the most existential question posed by man remains unanswered.

“Without the Higgs mechanism all particles would travel at the speed of light and atoms would not exist.”

This kind of thinking is what passes for science nowadays.

Sorry, scientists. The universe has been functioning quite well without your silly theories. All particles don’t travel at the speed of light, and atoms do exist.

The universe doesn’t depend on your equations. The job of your equations is to describe the universe. If they don’t, they are invalid and you have to keep calculating.

So your understanding of the universe depends on having seen the trace of a particle moving at the expected angle with roughly the expected mass. Very shaky base to build your model of the universe on.

Everybody knew already that bosos were running the universe.

Now, let someone find anti-bosons and we could maybe get a decent bomb outy of it.

A while ago some Christians complained about the commercialization of Christmas. Christmas was being used, not to honor Christ, but to sell stuff.

Then all the stores started using the word 'Holiday' instead of Christmas and those Christians complained: What happened to 'Christmas'?

Now scientists are talking about the 'God Particle' and some Christians are upset because it seems to be a dig or a blasphemy against God. At some point in the future the general public won't be using the word 'God' at all to describe anything. Those Christians will long for the day when people use to talk about the 'God Particle'.

Lately I've noticed I don't hear people yelling out 'Jesus Christ' as often as they did when they stub their toes or are upset for some other reason. Some Christians will think this is great: Yay! Less blasphemy. But in the long run we'll be hearing fewer 'Jesus Christs' not because people are becoming more respectful of God, but because they have abandoned Him entirely.

Interesting article. Right in the middle of the subject I'm working on right now...

(Note: already called "the God particle"... by scientists...

(How about "Ruach Elohim" particle...?) '-)

Higg’s Field = “an invisible field pervading all of space”

Reminiscent of the old theory of Ether pervading the universe. I guess what goes around comes around. Still, I’ll have to say that I just love all of these invisible fields, invisible dark mass fields, and invisible dark energy fields necessary to explain stuff. I don’t mind the invisibility part so much as the “field” part. It’s not enough to be just invisible, but it has to be invisible AND all over the place too!

Still, all just mathematical constructs trying to describe reality, and which get more and more complicated as we go along, each complication added to try to account for the latest discrepancy between observation and the mathematics in the “old” theory.

BTW, I wonder if they really DID find the Higg’s Boson, or if they “found” it because they WANTED to find it so badly. After all, “to find the elusive particle, scientists at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) had to pore over data from the wreckage of trillions of sub-atomic proton collisions.” Not to mention billions of dollars were spent and tens of thousands of people worked on the project for a decade. It’d have been quite a letdown to NOT find it, so maybe they just kept looking until one day they believed they could say, “We found it”.
