Readers have to get halfway into the Associated Press report on its new AP-GFK poll to find this out, but Barack Obama’s job approval numbers have cratered in the shutdown. His overall job approval is now 37/53, and a majority want Obama to start cooperating more with Republicans, as 63% want Republicans to meet Obama part-way, too:
Americans are holding Republicans primarily responsible for the partial government shutdown as public esteem sinks for all players in the impasse, President Barack Obama among them, according to a new poll. It’s a struggle with no heroes. …
Most Americans disapprove of the way Obama is handling his job, the poll suggests, with 53 percent unhappy with his performance and 37 percent approving of it. Congress is scraping rock bottom, with a ghastly approval rating of 5 percent.
Indeed, anyone making headlines in the dispute has earned poor marks for his or her trouble, whether it’s Democrat Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, or Republican John Boehner, the House speaker, both with a favorability rating of 18 percent.
The amusing headline in this instance is “GOP gets the blame in shutdown.” However, the data shows that plenty of blame is being heaped on all sides, by all sides:

Really, it is a shame for Black Americans that the first president of color (1/2 black) is such a disaster to the country. A person who could have been a great and shining example to them has turned out to be no better than the common street thug, dressed in an expensive suit. He has not helped the Black community at all, and he has only made race relations worse than they were before the Civil Rights movement. It is not just his poor (non-existent) negotiation skills, it his deep rooted hatred for white Americans And black Americans as well...and for this country. A hatred and envy he learned from his mom while in Indonesia, and fortified by his Commie grandfather and his anti-American mentors and friends. Generations from now people will be amazed that this country elected Obama for two terms and they will wonder how people could have been so duped and stupid.

What is wrong with Europe?
I saw a poll recently of OweBowMao’s approval around the world. His numbers were down in every continent except Europe.
Germans, I am ashamed to say, still revere him with 88% approval. 88% ! ! ! Germans, of all people, should be able to recognize a Fascist. The only sane country over there is Poland.
Why doesn’t Europe get him? Is it because this guy is transforming America into socialist Europe ? Or is it because, apart from France which always has, Europeans finally feel superior to the country America has become, and they love how he is taking this country down?

On the day Bush’s approval rating fell to 37%, Blitzer repeated 43 times in 3 hours, “President Bush’s approval has fallen to a new low of 37%!”, breathlessly.
Today on CNN, the omly thing he has said is , “President Obama’s approval is pretty low, too”, in response to the repeated meme of “CONGRESS APPROVAL ONLY 5%!!!”
Now they have TWICE said that Republican approval is only 28%
Now, I wonder WHY?

So long as Obama’s numbers sink, I don’t really care what people think of the Republicans, so long as they hold the line.
People remember the 1995 government shutdown, when DemocRATS won the PR battle hands-down. We thought it would happen again, but it’s something different. Republicans are certainly damaged by it, but Democrats aren’t coming out of it unscathed this time. There is a widespread attitude of “a pox on both their houses” and I think that it’ll do more damage to Obama and Harry Reid than to Republicans.
I’m hearing more and more DemoRATs voicing dislike for the One! I don’t believe the Republicans are losing this PR battle. Everyone I talk to is big-time angry and not at the GOP.
