Letter from Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder to fans
Washington Post ^ | 10-9-2013 | Dan Snyder

To Everyone in our Washington Redskins Nation:

As loyal fans, you deserve to know that everyone in the Washington Redskins organization -- our players, coaches and staff -- are truly privileged to represent this team and everything it stands for. We are relentlessly committed to our fans and to the sustained long-term success of this franchise.

That’s why I want to reach out to you --our fans -- about a topic I wish to address directly: the team name, “Washington Redskins.” While our focus is firmly on the playing field, it is important that you hear straight from me on this issue. As the owner of the Redskins and a lifelong fan of the team, here is what I believe and why I believe it.

He goes on to outline the history and the actual opinions of moist Indians regarding the name.

Of course, since the PC Gestapo are on the case, facts are irrelevant.

I don’t remember the Kennedys ever going after the ‘Skins name issue way back when, Why now?

I guess the media mafia needs a new or rather old item to revisit to cover-up for their pitiful efforts on reporting current events nationwide.

It also just happens to be one of the most valuable brands in the world among sports franchises. No way is Snyder going to throw that away because of some PC nutjobs who for the most part aren’t even football fans.

As a Cowboys fan, the Redskins are per se evil. And I don’t generally care for Dan Snyder. However, in this case, I am 100% behind him and the Redskins.

Unfortunately, I had to go to the WaPo site to read the letter. Now I have to go take a shower.

In tribute to the whiners, they should change the name to The Washington Thinskins.

“Brand” is right! It would be suicide to change. It would be like “McDonalds” changing their name to “Burger World”.

Dan writes a great letter pointing out the respect shown to Indians throughout their 8 decades.

May I suggest the tried and true name “Washington Bullets.” What could go wrong?

Because, as leftists are so often heard saying, we’re a “more enlightened” country now. BTW, leftists in 2050 will view leftists in 2013 as odious. The standards keep changing with them.

This nonsense must stop. Colleges and even local High Schools are being pressured by the PC Nazis to change the generations loved mascot nicknames. The Sioux, Apaches, Seminoles for just a couple of samples. Consider...
With the corrupted history poorly taught in the government schools, the ONLY thing keeping alive the names of many Native American tribes is their being adopted over the years by school teams.
These names, chosen to claim for the teams, the bravery, courage, tenacity and very existence of the people here before Columbus showed up, will vanish from the language without these reminders.
Oh, should my RED Sox change their color, too?
What about the U.S. Army naming a war fighting helicopter the APACHE? Must they rename it the HECKAWES?

Better to be a brave Redskin than to be a weasel thin-skin.

The end game is to outlaw conservative free speech, if people accept the premise that offensive speech can be banned then the outcry will be that conservatives viewpoints are offensive and need to be banned as well.

—Oh, should my RED Sox change their color, too?—

Ironically, at the height of the Cold War, the Cincinnati Reds changed or reverted their names to Redlegs because it sounded less commie.

It’s just liberals, being offended on behalf of people who aren’t offended. Yeah, some Oneidas are acting offended, but most aren’t and besides, I’ve sworn off buying any of their silverware, so there.

They’re fortunate we didn’t bring all of our old-world customs with us or they’d all have been wiped out a few centuries ago.

I was on a FB thread the other day where the folks in SD were still angry about Mt. Rushmore, but I told them, Hey, you’re getting your wish, the evil white man has been pushed out by the evil white/black man. I suggested they just get their friends in the Taliban to blow it up and they didn’t like that either. There’s just no pleasing some folks....
