. . how the federal government shutdown has affected you, please email... SO I DID!

The actions of the Executive Branch and the Senate have humiliated me as a proud citizen of these United States. The needless "shut down" of open air national monuments and Parks is a very great travesty that has embarrassed our Great Nation, in closing its Great National Parks to foreign visitors, as well as to our own citizens. I am appalled that you choose to fund Park Rangers to "shut down" open areas that would cost nothing to keep open, and employ the enforcers at no inconsiderable cost (in contravention to the Anti-Deficiency Act) to barricade those places. After all the Anti-Deficiency Act curbs SPENDING in the absence of Congressional authorization; it does not authorize "shut down" of venues which belong to the People (only entrusted to the Executive Branch via the Park Service for maintenance) which cost nothing to remain open and in some cases actually contribute income to the federal coffers. Shame, SHAME on you! for embarrassing this Great Nation to foreign tourists and guests, and those who remain in their own nations but who still can read the embarrassing reports of such travesties in the overseas press. SHAME SHAME on you!

This is Sen Brown of Ohio. Normal comments will not be read due to the "shut down" but a special email for comments about the effects of the "shut down" -- do you think this is what he wanted to hear? HEY Ohio freepers, go for it! ; )

What if all the non essential government shut down and nobody noticed?

My American neighbor, from PA, left here, the Philippines, with his wife, for her first visit to the US.
His plan was to drive coast to coast, border to border, visiting the national parks. I am anxious to hear just how that is working out for them.
They have been gone just a few weeks, on a three month trip.

It appears to be open to everyone, so I sent an email stating that the shutdown had a profound effect on me.

It made me even prouder to be a Tea Partier, and may the shutdown continue into the New year!

I am positive I can last longer than the present U.S. Government.
Without juvenile theatrics that affect every other American.

Unlike the United States which has no budget because Democrat Progressives are not allowed to have the ability to continue unlimited borrowed spending, I have a budget and a prudent reserves, and reduce my spending as the reserves diminish.

Of course my president, the Great Uniter, and his "most transparent government" has exercised the power to confiscate with impunity, so my determination to plan ahead is vulnerable to arbitrary and capricious politicians.

If the non-essential Park Rangers had been furloughed, we would not have noticed. However they are paying EXTRA to shut down open monuments and Parks that require no manning, except to barricade them. I am indeed humiliated as a citizen that our government has come to this, to deny access — AT EXTRA COST — of our National Treasures, to citizens and foreign guests. As I said shame, SHAME, on the executive who ordered this travesty, and the Senators who make it possible.

I also have a relative making an around the world tour, also somewhere in the West. I was hoping to be a generous host. But do not know what he might be encountering, in attempting to see Our National Treasures and Heritage, on this once in a life time trip. Embarrassed, humiliated, and etc. God Bless your neighbors and my relatives! May they see the America we all love, and not Parks closed by armed guards. : (

It destroyed my opinion of the Park Service.

Thanks! How amazing that he will take emails from anyone about the pain of the shut down, while “shutting down” his normal constituent services. HA! THANKS!

That was very good. It seems to me that “shutting things down” in ways that cost money in these circumstances should be an impeachable offense...

Sherrod Brown is an unusual name, but indeed a he. I tried to paste a picture, but he is a he. Maybe he can’t help the name his parents gave him. HA!

Certainly in direct contravention of the Act, and I do not know what other remedies might be open to the agrieved citizens. In the mean time, he acts with impunity.

My shutdown e-mail:

It has made me tremendously happy and I hope it stays shut down forever. Y'all may keep my Social Security checks; small price to pay to finally have a country back.

It’s actually his middle name. His first name is Cleveland.

HA! Another response he did not expect to receive on his special “shut down” stories email. But he asked . . .

He did not campaign on that name. Cleveland (the city) is the bane of Ohio. We would have not a Democrat Senator otherwise. Another humiliation and embarrassment.
