WASHINGTON -- A majority of physician practices (55.5%) hold an "unfavorable" or "very unfavorable" view of the impact the Affordable Care Act's (ACA) health insurance exchanges will have on them, a survey of more than 1,000 group practices showed.

Almost as many (40.2%) said they were still evaluating their options or planning not to participate with insurance products sold on the exchanges, according to a survey that the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) released Monday at its annual meeting.

Those still weighing their options cited the risk of low reimbursement rates (85%), financial liability during a 90-day grace period for exchange plan enrollees (83%), and concerns about the financial burden of patient collections (82.5%) as barriers to participation.

Well, geeze. they’re just getting around to speaking with the docs about this?

Could’ve asked them about 5 years ago.

Next up, how has Obamacare affected enrollment rates at med schools

The media and politicians think we’re as idiotic as they are

I am a health psychologist in a large hospital-based system. I always knew that ACA would be a problem, so my retirement plans have changed (i.e., speeded up) accordingly. It’s time to go Galt.

Perfect! Etch-a-SketchCare! Don’t bother reading it, as it changes frequently.

My doc told me how horrible he thought this cr@p sandwich was almost four years ago. He made plans then to retire earlier than his original date.

financial liability during a 90-day grace period for exchange plan enrollees (83%)

This is going to be a killer. People will pay a month or two of premiums, then quit, but still considered "covered" and will continue making appointments the next three months. Can't blame providers for not wanting to shoulder this risk. Better to see Medicaid patients -- at least they'll get paid eventually, not much, but will get paid.

My pediatrician SIL retired early a couple of years ago. But she thinks Obamacare is GREAT!

She drives me nuts.

No matter how you interpret Obamacare, it is the biggest socialist cluster-frig ever known in these United States. There have been others, but this is a total disaster in the making for US citizens.

NO body knows what's in the fine print of the original law, much less the thousands of regulations already written and future regulations coming at us. This will either destroy our Republic...OR will bring some sort of revolution.

I'm hoping for peaceful revolution. You intell types who think us law-abiding Patriots are the enemy are wrong about our intentions! We are Constitutionalists and want to see those principles upheld within that construct.

We are NOT the enemy. The "change and hopey" people who want to "fundamentally" change America are the political enemy and you know it! Stop making us traditionalists the bad guys. Your rank and file work hard to protect us every day...realize that we are your side if only you also protect our Constitutional liberties. That's all we ask.

It was meant to be a disaster, it was planned that it would fail. Probably not right out of the gate but not far from it.

Nationalized healthcare is going to be their big campaign theme in 2016.
