Judge orders monitor to be appointed to oversee Arizona Sheriff Arpaio
fox ^ | October 02, 2013

A federal judge on Wednesday ordered the appointment of an independent monitor and a community advisory board to ensure that an Arizona sheriff is complying with constitutional requirements after finding his office engages in racial profiling.

U.S. District Judge Murray Snow found in May that the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office singled out Latinos and deputies unreasonably prolonged detentions.

It was the first finding by a court that the agency covering Arizona's most populous county engages in racial profiling after a small group of Latinos sued the Arpaio for violating their constitutional rights, saying they were being detained simply because of their race. ...

In his ruling Wednesday, Snow ordered that a monitor be appointed to oversee the agency's re-training of deputies and ensure the Sheriff's Office is complying with constitutional requirements. Snow also ordered the creation of a community advisory board aimed at helping restore the public's confidence, among other remedies.

"Today's order is really going to put some sunlight into the corners of the MCSO that have been such a problem in terms of people's civil rights. It's a great day," said Cecillia Wang, an American Civil Liberties Union lawyer who is representing the plaintiffs.

Arpaio's office had vehemently opposed the appointment of a monitor, arguing it would mean every one of his policy decisions would have to be cleared through the observer and would nullify his authority. ... "The monitor cannot tell us what to do or not to do," Casey said, referring to the monitor's role in the ruling as overseeing training and procedures, among other things.

Sad. When someone that is complying with the constitution is prosecuted. To put a sheriff in a leg monitor is ludicrous. Hope to hell this poc judge visits Arizona in the near future and commits a traffic violation.

We all know how this is going to go down. They’ll appoint some Arpaio hating DemocRAT homosexual or an illegal alien drug cartel boss.

Constitutional requirements?

One step close to Civil War, IMO. The left keeps pushing and perhaps that’s what they want in their mad rush to consolidate power, but I really doubt the outcome will match their expectations.

Not a leg monitor. Someone to follow Arpaio around, make sure he doesn’t spit on the sidewalk.

Should be able to appeal the judges ruling !

I would think so also. I wouldn't think one of these FEDERAL, black robed little gods has the Constitutional authority to do this.

On the recommendation of Arizona U.S. Senators John McCain and Jon Kyl, Snow was nominated to the United States District Court for the District of Arizona by President George W. Bush on December 11, 2007

According to various Wikis, he has exactly one (1) notable case in that six year period.

This one.

I’m not laughing.
When they are out to get you, the attacks are relentless and their resources seem to be infinite.
Alinsky tactics — hammer away at your target and control the narrative.

The media is standing by to magnify and distort any accusations.

Sheriff Joe should just hand his badge to the “monitor” and say, “Now it’s your problem.”
