John was my classmate from elementary through high school. Thought he was a smart guy. Pity how he turned out.

Career politicians are all owned. Kasich is such a disappointment. The Ohio voters thought they were electing a conservative—and now he thinks his constituency is the Obama crowd who didn’t even vote for him!!

RINO POS.

“almost all able-bodied childless adults”....that is what the article says. If u r able bodied and don’t have health insurance, find a way to get a better job, or budget better to buy health insurance. I can’t stand having to pay for someone like “Chad Henderson” health insurance b/c he doesn’t want to get a real job!

Disappointment indeed.

His attempted end run around the legislature is the starkest evidence to date that John Kasich, who was elected in 2010 as a limited government conservative, is less interested in freedom than in “free” money

Kasich, who seemed SO promising back in '94 has turned into just another entitlement whore.

Well I do not think his gambit will work. He is trying to get it through the Controlling Board which goes with the R dominated legislature (which will not help Kasich so he is trying to by-pass them). They will turn him down. Kasich is trying to show he is a “compassionate conservative” ala Karl River & Dubya. Kasich has no real opposition for 2014 race for re-election so he is tacking left to help him become electible as an R candidate for President. (Which hopefully will not work either). He is a whore, pure & simple (like McCain and many others in our ranks).

Hard to believe that FreeP “LS” lives in Ohio.

I don't like it either but I recognize that Kasich is trying to prevent hospitals from going out of business thanks to Obamacare's federal spending cuts directed at hospitals that serve poorer populations, like Grady Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. I have no problem with Kasich's move, it keeps our hospitals solvent. Taking care of business doesn't make Kasich a RINO, it makes him pragmatic which is a trait that most Ohioans appreciate in my experience.

I disagree. OH needs a balanced budget and a good environment for businesses and their employees to live here, not more freebies. These people don't need Medicaid, they need jobs.

What's going to happen when OH becomes a magnet for even more of the poor because of Medicaid expansion, and then the feds stop sending the money? And what about all of those folks who establish an OH address with relatives in order to get all of the freebies? It happens.
