Oh good grief - my sympathies to your sons.
I raised 4 boys and - we had rules and they were taught caution, but allowed to be CHILDREN - and if they got hurt, they didn’t get punished for it.
Does that mean that if my annual income was $10,000, and the annual cost of insurance is $10,800, I am exempt? That is not a great situation. The Federal Government has authorized the IRS to be a dominatrix. I can see the statement, "SUFFER BITCH! YOUR INCOME EXCEEDS THE 8% LEVEL."
“You’re also exempt if you have to pay more than 8% of your annual income toward health insurance premiums.”
here’s a link for that quote:

Just wait until these ignoramuses discover the difference betwee n"coverage" and "access". "Oh, you're covered for this broken leg, no problem. Take a number and wait for a month or two. Or four."
Noumenon, over here in the next state over from you the average wait time in our standalone ER has been 6 minutes (just mentioned in a newspaper article). Since so few are signing up for O’care I don’t think it’s really going to change much.
If the annual premium is over $800. Thought it was actually 8.5%.
Thanks Democrats. We will be voting against you till the end of time.
Wait till our grown children see your Penalties, oh Excuse me - increased taxes. They will surely love you to see their hard earned money - vanish into the maw of socialism.
“The bottom line is people who couldnt afford health insurance in the first place are still not going to be able to afford it...”
And it seems like many who COULD afford it now won’t be able to.
It’s as if the gov’t said: you have to buy a car, but it’s got to be a cadillac.
Sticker shock doesn’t matter. We are required by law to buy the product that Obama and Pelosi demand we buy. Whether we like the price or the quality/features is irrelevant.
Get enough people to tilt the balance way off kilter and the whole thing will collapse, the whole shabang in its fallacy was designed to work with 100% population enrollment.
But those freedom loving die hard bitter clinger christians won’t accept communism and are saying, “Eff U Obama and the lame horse you ride!”
And all of America unites against Obamacare, we are swarming, we are gathering, we are unstoppable.
We are The Tea Party.
Of course, my sons weren’t kept on a leash. They had fun, but as you said, they were taught caution.
Maybe I didn’t express it well. In my neighborhood, I saw all kinds of dangerous things going on. Kids building ramps and jumping their bikes off them. Skate boarding, roller blading IN TRAFFIC without any head or other protection.
Not only climbing trees, but seeing who could jump out of them from the highest branch.
And this was going on with their parents in the house/yard.
All of us pay when parents are negligent.
Yeah, in the ‘60s we did that stuff where mom and dad couldn’t see it.
We had Frequent Triage cards for our two boys. Every tenth set of stitches was free!
I was pleasantly surprised my Healthcare Savings Account didn’t change for 2014. At one point in the battle over the ObamaCAIR bill they were saying HSAs would be eliminated.
No. You need to re-read what Cedar wrote.

For many individuals, that means that if the monthly premium is more than $300/month, they won’t face the penalty tax.
(For 2012, the median individual income was $42,693, which would calculate to a monthly premium of $284.62.)
So, I was wrong. The Obamacare premium is calculated after applying the fedgov subsidy you qualify for.

I had an ER visit in 2010. I got the barest minimum of care, a tetanus shot, a shot of morphine, was there a bit over an hour (had to wait for DH to drive 45 miles to come and get me)and the charge was $1000. Medicare paid $20-something, my supplement picked up a bit over $200 and I never saw a bill, so I suppose they ate the overage. $350 for the ER is a good price, today.
Rural area, good hospital, lots of MDs, low unemployment.
