I raised 4 boys and - we had rules and they were taught caution, but allowed to be CHILDREN - and if they got hurt, they didn’t get punished for it.
Does that mean that if my annual income was $10,000, and the annual cost of insurance is $10,800, I am exempt? That is not a great situation. The Federal Government has authorized the IRS to be a dominatrix. I can see the statement, "SUFFER BITCH! YOUR INCOME EXCEEDS THE 8% LEVEL."

Noumenon, over here in the next state over from you the average wait time in our standalone ER has been 6 minutes (just mentioned in a newspaper article). Since so few are signing up for O’care I don’t think it’s really going to change much.

Maybe I didn’t express it well. In my neighborhood, I saw all kinds of dangerous things going on. Kids building ramps and jumping their bikes off them. Skate boarding, roller blading IN TRAFFIC without any head or other protection.
Not only climbing trees, but seeing who could jump out of them from the highest branch.
And this was going on with their parents in the house/yard.
All of us pay when parents are negligent.
Yeah, in the ‘60s we did that stuff where mom and dad couldn’t see it.
We had Frequent Triage cards for our two boys. Every tenth set of stitches was free!
I was pleasantly surprised my Healthcare Savings Account didn’t change for 2014. At one point in the battle over the ObamaCAIR bill they were saying HSAs would be eliminated.

So, I was wrong. The Obamacare premium is calculated after applying the fedgov subsidy you qualify for.

I had an ER visit in 2010. I got the barest minimum of care, a tetanus shot, a shot of morphine, was there a bit over an hour (had to wait for DH to drive 45 miles to come and get me)and the charge was $1000. Medicare paid $20-something, my supplement picked up a bit over $200 and I never saw a bill, so I suppose they ate the overage. $350 for the ER is a good price, today.
Rural area, good hospital, lots of MDs, low unemployment.
