Shelves in Two Lousiana Walmarts Cleared When Welfare Recipients Thought They Were Getting Free Food
PJ Media ^ | October 14, 2013 | Bryan Preston

Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd confirms they were called in to help the employees at Walmart because there were so many people clearing off the shelves. He says Walmart was so packed, “It was worse than any black Friday” that he’s ever seen.

Lynd explained the cards weren’t showing limits and they called corporate Walmart, whose spokesman said to let the people use the cards anyway. From 7 to 9 p.m., people were loading up their carts, but when the cards began showing limits again around 9, one woman was detained because she rang up a bill of $700.00 and only had .49 on her card. She was held by police until corporate Walmart said they wouldn’t press charges if she left the food.

It is sad that there are so many takers in American society who think nothing of using other people's money or taking food off of other people's tables.

This is another example of why poverty should not be handled by the government. When people have to depend on other people's charity in their local community they are humble. When a faceless bureaucrat in Washington D.C. is in charge, people just take more and more and think that they are entitled to do so.

And guess who gets to pay for all the overcharges?

Hint: it won’t be the card users.

I think that without things like EBT we wouldn’t have half the wal-mart stores we do.

Seriously.

These people should be ashamed of themselves, but they don’t know what shame is.

So true, but the American people are incapable of understanding.

Stalk my posts for hard numbers on that in MS alone.

They’ve put most of the local grocery stores out of business in these parts.

My initial reaction is... glitch? My hairy, pimpled *** this was a glitch. Anything to stir up “the masses” is openly being resorted to by this admin and it’s fellow travelers.

After reflection... reaction remains the same.

This ought to serve as the perfect example of what happens when you have limited supply and unlimited demand. The ones lucky enough to get there first get everything, leaving everybody else with nothing.

The ones that ring Chicago even time their delivery of crap food to the replenishment of the LINC cards.

Walmart deserves some of the blame here, too. They took advantage of the situation (read: mooched) just as badly as any of the customers...

Agreed. It would be interesting to know the percent of sales attributable to EBT, WIC, etc. at the various retail grocery stores. They ought to have to publish that in their 10-Qs.

Perhaps they just didn’t want their stores burned down.
