The flaw in his thinking as that the final Bush budget was hugely inflated because of having to deal with the financial crisis. Prior to that, Bush’s deficits had been shrinking. But once the crisis passed, Obama kept the huge deficits at or near the huge level of the final Bush “crisis” budget.
