Efforts To Hide Full Cost Of ObamaCare Insurance Fueled Epic Crash
Chicago Tribune ^ | October 15, 2013 | by Grace-Marie Turner

The irony is rich. President Obama told Maryland college students just days before the launch of his healthcare "marketplace" that it would take just a few keystrokes to compare prices and policy details.

"Don't take my word for it, go on the website," Obama told a crowd at Prince George's Community College in Largo, MD, five days before the launch. "See for yourself what the prices are. See for yourself what the choices are and then make up your own mind. That's all I'm asking."

But the bureaucrats in his administration clearly weren't listening. They created a website that is calamitously cumbersome and is not at all like the typical online shopping experience that lets people browse for products and prices before making a purchase.

The Healthcare.gov website demands an extraordinary amount of personal information from "shoppers" before they can find out their health insurance options and prices.

Why would they design a site this way? Because the administration didn't want people to get sticker shock by seeing the full cost of the insurance policy upfront. And since subsidies depend upon a number of factors, including income, family size, and health habits, the administration decided to require every potential applicant to enter that information before they could "shop" for policies.

Fox News just showed a screen shot from Obamacare. It had an entry to register to vote. Why is registering to vote part of Obamacare?

He knew 5 years ago as well as 5 days before that this wasn’t going to work. It’s designed not to. I keep looking for serpents to come out of his mouth, the liar!

They don’t want window shoppers.

They don't want informed shoppers.

But they do want your detailed personal information for other purposes.

If this were a private venture no reasonable person would give out their personal data without a legal commitment to confidentiality. But, of course, we can trust our loving government and Dear Leader.

Why would unions, Democrat staffers, and muslims want to be exempted if it is the best option?

They don’t want any shopper to know the “list” price right off the bat. So they’ve decided to make people jump through hoops to see if they qualify for a subsidy. Then they show the subsidized price to them.

So those shoppers will not see what the rest of the average Joes and Janes pay.

I’m not surprised at all by the pitifully low enrollment. First of all, there’s the sticker shock and second of all, low info voters don’t have a clue that they are mandated to buy health insurance. They think it’s a free gift from the Won..

"And since subsidies depend upon a number of factors, including income, family size, and health habits......"

"Health habits" are included in the subsidy matrix??? That's new to me. Frankly, I didn't worry about subsidies that much, so I wasn't paying attention to the "qualifications".

Wonder who establishes the qualifying "health standards"?

This reminds me of websites that won’t tell you a shipping price until after you have entered a credit card number. No sale!

Ya gotta love the irony. Use the schools to dumb down the people so you can control them but they dumbed them down so much they can’t fill out the forms so that their masters can’t control them.

Agree. But at least you know what the product is, cost etc, before finding out the total cost.

A classic scam. Put you through a bunch of crap before you can see the price.

The ONLY people signing up are people with expensive pre-existing conditions. Gosh, who would have guessed?

If I offer home insurance that costs twice as much, but covers homes that have already burned down, who is going to purchase it?

So those shoppers will not see what the rest of the average Joes and Janes pay.

And they will not recognize the uphill battle they'll face trying to better their lot in life when every raise they get is eaten up by their health insurance and taxes.

If a Presidential candidate was smart, he'd call attention to that early and often.

Could it be that when you register to vote you specify you specify your party affiliation? Then when your care is being reviewed by Obama’s death panels, the decision is an easy one. Just thinking.

For liberals who admire the Canadian system, we conservatives should point out that everyone in Canada from Prime Minister, members of Parliament, gov workers down to the janitor in Canada is under their single payer system. No waivers or exemptions. So what happen to Obamacare liberals??!!!

People that buy are going to be p*ssed when health care providers start asking for the co-pay money before providing care.

———President Obama told Maryland college students———

Which means he didn’t know.

He did not bother to take a test drive, to actually check it out. Clueless is an accurate descriptive of Obama and Obamacare. He blathers on yada yada yada about a subject on which he has no first hand knowledge. He lacked the common sense to sit down at a computer on the way to his daily campaign speech and see what was there.

The debacle is a metaphor for America. He has no clue the destruction he has wrought in the name of progressive change. His days must come to an end
