The speaker is considering a vote on the Senate-brokered deal, even if conservatives object.

Speaker John Boehner is considering letting the House take the initial vote Wednesday on a Senate-prepared bill to lift the debt ceiling and restart funding for the shuttered federal government--apparently even if House conservatives object.

If they do object, it would mean Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and her House Democrats could become critical to its passage.

why was increasing the national debt ok when congress passed the appropriations bills, but not now when it’s time to raise the debt ceiling?

Votes first on WHAT? I don't see a bill for them to vote on. It has to go through the rules committee first.

Of course the Senate and President would block that. Utter non-starter. I Prosecuted long enough to know when the other side has nothing but a bluff. You don’t ever fold to the bluffer. Boehner has nothing because he put himself into a position to have nothing and he could have had it all. Not too pleased with Cruz not being much more than a rabble-rouser but I digress.

I am sick of seeing good ideas fail because of inept GOP leaderhip. Yeah Rep Issa, that means you too.

The Republicans deserve to have conservatives leave the party. They really, really want to be the minority party, just like in the good-old-days of Bob Michel, House minority leader, who carried water for the Democrats as a career.

The “deal” has been made. The commie DemocRATS win, Americans lose. That’s one heck of a “deal”.

Time for the tea party in the house to put up or shut up and remove boner from the speaker’s office. There had better be a group in the sharpening up some knives.

Good post. GOP is most certainly the lite side of the Democrat Party. Two sides of the same coin really.

there is NO RISK OF DEFAULT.

the media has been lying saying Armageddon will happen Oct 17 if the debt limit is not raised. that is a big lie. the media lied. Obama lied. Reid lied.

we have to call and email Republicans and tell them not to believe the media lies. what is the capital switchboard or their emails or phone numbers?

Boehner has nothing because he put himself into a position to have nothing and he could have had it all.

It wasn’t ineptitude. Boehner didn’t want this battle and has wound down his position to this point on purpose. We have been played.

agreed... I’m ready for a viable 3rd party.. and I do mean viable... not saying it could win, but that it needs to garner more votes than the measely amount that the libertarian party gets.

I’m listening....

Just heard on Fox that they’ll be voting on Senate bill that was just hammered out..so, not the original Senate bill? the new/improved Reid-MConnell bill? Can’t wait to see what’s in this garbage. Probably worse than the 1st one. Way to negotiate..we have two parties right?

There is some kind of “message” that can be sent by Boehner.

It’s one of those weird rules that people dont know about..like “martial law” as it applies to Congress - When Sheila Jackson Lee used it people thought she meant regular martial law.

It allows Reid to skip a cloture vote.

They still need unanimous consent, or one senator can block it.
