The preliminary investigation indicates the husband and wife were separated. The woman went to her former home to exchange some sort of property.
A dispute erupted and the husband shot the wife. She made it into the front yard before collapsing.
A neighbor, armed with a handgun, rescued the woman from the yard and moved her to safety.

Kudos to the neighbor. Takes guts to intervene against an armed man on behalf of a complete stranger.
From the article, the heroic neighbor could very well HAVE been shot...by the cops! (No dogs were injured during this arrest/s)
I think I see the problem.
True, and that’s always been one of my concerns in a Good Samaritan action, how to make sure the authorities know I’m the good guy when they arrive on the scene. Like say there’s a guy running around campus with an AR 15 ultramatic 150 clip shotgun taking out students, and I pop my baby glock out of, well, somewhere, and take him down, and the police arrive just then to see me standing there with the smoking gun and some poor kid lying on the ground. Could I get shot? I’m guessing yes. So what then? Play dead? I don’t know. I haven’t got that part of the scenario worked out.
I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that it was the gunshot wound to the head...
Yep, a major case of lead head.
Play dead, IMHO.
The happiest ending would have been for the woman not to have been hurt at all and the punk husband killed by the neighbor. Then,of course, the DA rules “justifiable homicide” and all is well.
