Boehner Statement on Bipartisan Senate Agreement to Reopen Government, Avoid Default
Speaker of the House of Representatives ^ | Wednesday, October 16, 2013 | John Boehner

Posted on 10/16/2013 12:35:14 PM PDT by kristinn

WASHINGTON, DC – House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) released the following statement regarding the bipartisan Senate agreement to reopen the federal government and avoid a national default:

“The House has fought with everything it has to convince the president of the United States to engage in bipartisan negotiations aimed at addressing our country's debt and providing fairness for the American people under ObamaCare. That fight will continue. But blocking the bipartisan agreement reached today by the members of the Senate will not be a tactic for us. In addition to the risk of default, doing so would open the door for the Democratic majority in Washington to raise taxes again on the American people and undo the spending caps in the 2011 Budget Control Act without replacing them with better spending cuts. With our nation's economy still struggling under years of the president's policies, raising taxes is not a viable option. Our drive to stop the train wreck that is the president's health care law will continue. We will rely on aggressive oversight that highlights the law's massive flaws and smart, targeted strikes that split the legislative coalition the president has relied upon to force his health care law on the American people.”

Just called Raul Labrador's office. The girl said Raul was in conference and she didn't know how he would vote.

I told her that if Labrador votes with a minority of Repubs and majority of Dems to pass this bill, we in Idaho will know that he is not a conservative.

There is still time for the republican caucus to convene and remove him as Speaker and for a new Speaker to table the vote.

HOEVEN JUST NOW on Fox Biz:

“We didn’t get what we want, but we will get a process to negotiate in the future.”

YOU CANNOT NEGOTIATE WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOTHING TO GAIN BY DOING SO.

The health and welfare of the American People is of NO CONCERN to the Radical Academic Socialists now in charge. Until the Beltway Bubble People realize this, we are just screwed.

And as I said yesterday, no one challenges Bohner as Speaker.
Just hit replay.

He tells us that the house has fought with everything it has and the fight will continue and I’m supposed to believe him? Sounds more like he cried, “uncle”.

“But blocking the bipartisan agreement reached today by the members of the Senate will not be a tactic for us.”

Since blocking is the only tactic Boehner has, I guess he just unconditionally surrendered.

Crock of shite.

House majority had every constitutional reason, every moral reason and every punitive reason to lock-in this shutdown.

But no, chicken shiz as they are, can’t sweat a 1 month bad news cycle.

I’m with ya. Never ever voting GOP again. I’ll be throwing away my vote on real conservatives.

He caved.

He did. And I am thinking about going back to several threads and looking at the folks that vilified me (and others) when Boner first wavered. I predicted this end based on history and experience. I said then, here is where the surrender begins.

I was excoriated for 1) Not knowing all the facts 2) Predicting doom and gloom 3) Not understanding how it works 4) Delay is not caving... 5) The Senate is powerless 6) We're really waiting for the debt ceiling argument anyway.......

I might be sending out some private e-mails with some poster quotes attached to some of my FRiends reminding them of what they said. Still thinking about it......

The real challenge (as an investor) is trying to predict when this is gonna blow up. It’s gone far longer than I expected, mostly because so many other large countries are printing money too, and everybody is pretending it’s OK.

I am EXTREMELY PISSED OFF that voter registration is somehow relevant to a website for health care. I am ever MORE pissed off that the GOP didn't fight to strike this website feature.

Obama will push to make illegal invaders from Mexico U.S. Citizens. Guess what? Because it's MANDATORY, they'll sign up for Obamacare AND ALSO BE LURED INTO REGISTERING AS 'DEMOCRATS' WHILE THEY'RE THERE. MILLIONS OF THEM!<.b>

Goodbye, America. I had the honor and privilege of knowing you when you existed but you are now gone and done. Only in America could voter registration and health care be linked together and NO ONE QUESTIONS IT. Good bye, America.

Lift your head up ButterCup.

We have won a great victory for the cause. ;) All of the RINO wing of the Republican Party has removed their masks and shown themselves to be the ENEMY in our Fox Hole.

Now take the fight to the Rat bastards!

No, there is not any more time. The Democrats will assure that he remains as speaker, since he effectively is one of them. They will vote for him as speaker.

He left off “We surrender”. Sure that’s just an oversight.

Yes, I agree. The ‘little putz’ is not a leader in any sense of the word. Retreat comes to mind and should be the rallying cry of the GOP.

Actually, it may turn out to be a master-stroke to let Obamacare, a disaster which the Dems own, continue thru the 2014 elections. Even rank-and-file Dems are upset with it, and that could mean big rightist wins next November. As O-h said, we need to concentrate on the primaries, nominating conservatives that can win.

We are now in a formal Constitutional Crisis. The House leadership has allowed the Executive Branch to preempt its “power of the purse.” See the clips by Mark Levin and Bob McClintock that have been on various threads to see why I make this comment. And this House leadership allowed that to happen.

Sad day for this country...
