Norquist: Defunders Owe Conservatives an Apology
National Review Online ^ | October 16, 2013 3:32 PM | Betsy Woodruff

Posted on 10/16/2013 1:14:33 PM PDT by SoConPubbie

Grover Norquist isn’t happy with the Defunders. The Americans for Tax Reform president told reporters today that they have a lot of apologies to make and bridges to re-build.

“It’d be a good idea if they stopped referring to other Republicans as Hitler appeasers because they opposed the strategy they put forward which failed,” Norquist says. “I think if you make a mistake as big as what they did, you owe your fellow senators and congressmen a big apology — and your constituents, as well, because nothing they did advanced the cause of repealing or dismantling Obamacare.”

Norquist refrained from naming the specific people who he thinks owe apologies to the rest of the conservative movement, but his reference is transparent — during his lengthy floor speech, Senator Ted Cruz said Republicans who supported a CR that would fund Obamacare were comparable to Neville Chamberlain.

Norquist adds that the defund effort has hurt its proponents’ goals.

“They hurt the conservative movement, they hurt people’s health care, they hurt the country’s economic situation and they hurt the Republican party,” he says. “And a lot of congressmen and senators are not going to win because we spent three months chasing our own tail — or at least, parts of the conservative movement spent three months chasing their own tail.”

He also compared the Defunders’ strategy to that of the Iraq invasion.

“These are the people who said, ‘Plan: Step One, Invade Iraq. Step Two, It turns into Kansas,’” Norquist says. “Could I ask if there’s anything in between Step One and Step Two? ‘Oh ye of little faith.’”

"If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures." - Alexander Hamilton

"We don't intend to turn the Republican Party over to the traitors in the battle just ended. We will have no more of those candidates who are pledged to the same goals as our opposition and who seek our support. Turning the Party over to the so-called moderates wouldn’t make any sense at all." -- President Ronald Reagan

"A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." - Thomas Paine 1792

"It does not take a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men." - Samuel Adams

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

I’m ashamed to admit that twenty years ago I was quite the disciple of Grover and worked with him quite a bit.

Now he’s just another two-bit whore to the political class and the Wahabbists.

Here’s my apology, Norquist:

I apologize for thinking that the GOP represents my core beliefs. Tomorrow, I’ll be changing my political affiliation from Republican to Independent.

Grover Al Norquist needs to move to some middle eastern hell hole and marry a herd of nanny goats and leave Americans alone.

Oh, good. The one guy more corrosive and damaging to American conservatism than Karl Rove is heard from.

Hey Groveer...stuff a sock in it.

Boehner may be all ready to roll over...but there are many of us who aren't.

The GOP conservative should rebel in the House against Boehner and vote him out as the Speaker and replace him with a conservative Speaker willing to do battle and take Obama to the mat.

In fact the GOP should take the following line in talking to Obama.

"Look, Barry, we have the votes to stop you cold, and we have decided to use those votes.

"We control government funduing and we are going to exercise that control.

"We are talking about a complete shutdown where not so much as a dime will be available for you to even heat the White House, so get ready to stay at the local Holiday Inn on your own dime for the duration. Also, tell Michelle she can send her 100+ assistants home to, and weed her own garden.

"The only thing we will fund during that time is the US military you hate so much.

"When you are ready to talk about seriously creating a budget...one that is balanced, one that really reduces the debt...and we are talking about a true reduction in the actual amount we owe, not just a reduction in the percentage of your spending increases...and a budget we that puts an end to ObamCare. When you are ready to seriously talk to us about those things...get back with us.

"Oh, BTW, Barry. One other thing we will fund is the following. The House of Reprentatives will meet each day with the express purpose of impeaching your sorry backside each day for the next 60 working days. Impeach you each day on a different charge. 60 impeachments, Barry. When you get ready to talk to us, then the first thing the Senate will have to take up is those 60 impeachments. Think about that while you are waiting, and watching.

"So, we have the votes, and we are firm. Give us a call when you are ready to talk. Bye now."
That's the discussion a real Speaker of the House should be having with Obama.

Notice The Muslim loving Norquist never mentions his and RINO’s strategy.
Just blames conservatives. Norquist, I congratulate you on your soon to
be winning strategy of surrender. Surrender has won the day.

I’ve got news for Grover.

Conservatives ARE the ‘defunders’.

Well, that’s my perception. Anyone not willing to look at constitutionality of the thing, not to mention the destruction, both immediate and for future economic prospects generations from now, I can’t see as being conservative.

Honestly, some of these contemporary philosophers get too wrapped up.

When is Grover going to apologize for declaring that an end to ethanol subsidies is a tax increase?

When is he going to apologize for the K Street monster he helped to create?

When is he going to apologize for being a Muzzie supporter?
