It is hard not to be cynical about the right-wingers’ racket. They promote confrontation in which there is no hope of victory, assail other Republicans when it fails and, along the way, raise a great deal of money and get a whole lot of media attention.
There are two things going on here. First, the short-term incentives for Lee to engage in this stunt are obvious. He’s not ever going to be president of the United States and will forever be in the shadow of people like Jim DeMint, president of the Heritage Foundation, and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.).

But what he lacks in star power and public attention he can make up in money and more media coverage than he’s enjoyed in his entire life.

Lee got to where he is by characterizing Sen. Robert Bennett (R-Utah) as a squishy insider. (Bennett had a nearly impeccable conservative voting record.)

However, Lee may have taken his own message too seriously. He apparently learned that you can never be disruptive and conservative enough. What he should have learned is that it is critical to stay close to your constituents and produce tangible results. He has done neither and, therefore, may be just as vulnerable to a challenge as Bennett was.

Just for the laughs. Jennifer Rube pretends to be a Republican. In reality, she's a huge RINO at the watering hole that few people like, least of all the libs she plays for. Here, she attempts to convince us that Mike Lee is vulnerable (which he isn't), that Bob Bennett was a conservative (which he wasn't), and that Lee should pipe down (which he shouldn't).
She proceeds to pathetically try to drive a wedge between Lee and Cruz, failing to realize that conservatives are not concerned with insider power games. We care more about principle.

Jen-Jen, we would have had victory if we weren’t knifed in the back by cowards. I have posted about a simple strategy that would force their thieving base to support our positions. Basically it uses the budget as the hammer and default as the anvil. The position is support our position or you will loose your welfare. If 0 pushes us into default then you loose your welfare forever. So tell your dim senators to support our position. Oh, if you riot and burn down your cities you will live with it because we will not pay for rebuilding. See. Simple honest and tough.
