Armed gun rights activists rally at the Alamo

**SNIP**

Organizers had also hoped that seeing a large peaceful gathering of armed citizens in the downtown of the country's seventh largest city would be a step toward making people comfortable with the sight. There were people of all ages in the crowd, including young children. Some waved flags that read "Come and Take It," others dressed in period costumes, but most looked like anyone else one might encounter on the street, they just happened to be carrying rifles.

Men strolling through the streets with rifles isn't an image to which Hilary Rand thinks people should have to grow accustomed.

Rand, a regional manager for Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, was at a counter-demonstration about a half mile away. Amid hula-hoops and face painting, Rand called the gun rights rally "bullying" and said it may serve opponents' interest as well.

Who is Hillary Rand and why should anyone give a rats patoot what she thinks.

So she leads a small gang of gun grabbers. Screw her.

Volunteers walked through the crowd placing red plastic straws in rifle chambers, a visible assurance they were not holding a round . . . Hilary Rand . . . said the threat of an accidental discharge was too great to justify gun rights advocates making their point.

Even by the standards of liberals, Hillary Rand is a moron. How often does she think that firearms with empty chambers have an accidental discharge? Even though the Second Amendment is not in the Penumbra like her favorite part of the Constitution, the right of the people to keep and bear arms is the supreme law of the land. Her brainless opinions are completely irrelevant when it comes to the law and our basic, God-given human rights.

Mike Vanderboegh of Sipsey Street Irregulars spoke at the rally. Mike was a key figure in getting Fast and Furious into the public discourse. Here's a bit of his speech, One country? Or two?
My name is Mike Vanderboegh. I am from the great free state of Alabama and I am a Three Percenter. This is not the first time Alabamians have come to the aid of Texas in her time of need. There is an Alabama flag hanging in this sacred shrine of American liberty behind us, marking the sacrifice of the Alabamians who died here. But that was the least of my state's losses in your war of independence. After the surrender and massacre at Goliad, it is said that every single planter family in the Tennessee River valley of Alabama went into mourning, grieving for their lost sons squandered by COL Fannin. Alabamians have since been more than a little suspicious of Texas colonels, but as for myself I expect to make it back to Alabama in one piece after this, although I suppose that's up to the city leadership of San Antonio.

For those of you who don't know me, if you need to pigeonhole my politics I consider myself a Christian libertarian. I believe in God, free men, free markets, the rule of law under the Founder's Republic and that the Constitution extends to everyone regardless of race, creed, color or religion. I most especially believe in the right of the people to keep and bear arms as the ultimate guarantor of liberty.

I have also been called a "seditionist" by members of the current regime. If faithfully fulfilling my oath to the Founders' Republic and unrelenting hostility to those who would undermine and overthrow it makes me a "seditionist" then I cheerfully plead guilty. The Three Percent movement I founded has been denounced by that paragon of moral virtue Bill Clinton and I am a perennial "honorable mention" on the Southern Poverty Law Center's list of dangerous folks. I have even been the subject of an eighteen and a half minute rant by Rachel Madcow on MSNBC and the current Attorney General of the United States knows -- and despises – me by name because of the Fast and Furious scandal that, with my friend David Codrea, I broke the news of on the Internet. Eric Holder would not be surprised to know that the feeling is mutual.

“Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America,”

Where do they get these names and why do ‘Moms’ have more credibility than anyone else?

Here is a picture of Moms demand some action or whatever: Notice that they are given plenty of attention. This is their "demonstration" that was going on the same time that the one at the Alamo was drawing thousands.

“Somewhere Jim Bowie is saying...Where the Hell were all you guy’s when I needed you!”

I think he is smiling and saying: “So, there may be a few patriots left in Texas after all” “Keep it up boys, and they may back down.”

Barack ain't no Santa Anna.

a perennial "honorable mention" on the Southern Poverty Law Center's list of dangerous folks.

From what I have seen of their criteria, the SPLC thinks of anyone who's ever voted Republican as a hate crime waiting to happen.

Actually, I think he's a lot like Santa Anna. Both are extra-constitutional tyrants, cruel megalomaniac narcissists who thought they knew more than they actually did. May Obama's comeuppance be as complete.

No doubt he shares some characteristics of Santa Anna.

I just do not think he has the drive, ambition, and understanding of military reality that Santa Anna did... thank God.

——Where the Hell were all you guy’s when I needed you!-—

Now ,now...... think on that a minute

If it were not for Jim Bowie et al in 1843, those gathered could not be there.

The Republic of Texas founding fathers should be the model for the new American Republic that is in the making.

Mike is quick to run down Col Fannin. Being a proud Texan and from Goliad I think Mike needs to brush up on his history.

Col Fannin and his troops fought a running battle against overwhelming forces for days and were finally captured in a creek bed and supposedly given quarter. Marched to Goliad where they were massacred and their bodies left to rot in the sun

Now I am sure Mike has led men before in battle so he would know what to do if faced with same situation.

Windbag......

Ya, that grated on me a bit but Vanderboegh is a good guy. I'm willing to take it as a 'Bama vs. Aggies kind of shot - good, hard ribbing, not meant with cruelty.
