Online healthcare exchanges are a major part of the Affordable Care Act, but in Alaska website troubles are keeping people from signing up for insurance.

Outreach to sign up Alaska’s nearly 140,000 uninsured has been extensive, including efforts by trained healthcare navigators.

Despite those efforts, by Thursday, outreach officials could only confirm seven Alaskans had signed up for coverage.

“I haven't signed anybody up,” Joan Fisher said flatly from her office at Providence Hospital on Thursday.

As the lead healthcare navigator for Alaska, she said she’s spoken with about 150 people since the exchange opened.

“I think that we can't really equate whether or not the plan is working based on the website functionality. That is a technical issue,” said Cherise Fowler.

She works as the outreach and enrollment coordinator for the Alaska Primary Care Association, funded through federal Department of Health and Social Services grants.

Of course, it’s the websites fault. Never mind no one wants this monstrosity.

We live in a rural community, so you have all kinds of welfare , disability, and food stamps with the Whites and the well the Indians the Govt gives them just about everything. Every Obama supporter on the take I see; I ask them if they got signed up for Obama Care yet? Most thought everything was going to be free and the rich would pay; unreal.

There was a crushing crowd in the opening week, they all got stuck in the door, and only seven got in.

Collectivism: purging out the competent.

Hurry and sign up for that 400% policy from the Affordable Care Act.

All extra money to go to probably to Democrat bank accounts, government employees as new health care employees and for others free health care if they have the good sense to neither work or marry.

Yeah, in a paradoxical and unexpected way, the high premiums and deductibles in Obamacare may just do what nothing else has been able to—that is to convince the low information voters that THERE IS NO MONEY TREE OUT THERE, and they are going to have to pay for health care.

But, I think they are so conditioned to think that somebody else should pay for their health care that they will refuse to enroll, and choose instead to just take the fine.

Wouldn’t it be interesting if ObamaCare as a state program flopped in conservative states. That would lead parasites to migrate where they could get free stuff (liberal, ObamaCare states) and lead productive Americans to migrate where they could benefit from their own hard work (conservative states that respect human rights). ObamaCare rates in the left coast and New England would grow exponentially, while medical costs in decent places would drop steadily. The federal subsidies will probably fall far short of leveling out the cost differences between states. Unfortunately, I’m in the People’s Republic of Maryland, so I’ll lose from that arrangement, but I would still be amused to see the remaining working liberals pay a huge premium for their generosity with what they still imagine to be other people’s money.
