We know 476,000 Obamacare applications have started. We don’t know how many will finish

The White House announced weeks ago it would not release Obamacare enrollment data until November. On Saturday, though, it gave application data to the AP – but the information doesn't really make clear how many people will actually sign up for health plans.

I've started two separate applications on HealthCare.gov and a handful on other state marketplaces. I account for about a half-dozen of those 476,000 applications. Other reporters are no doubt doing the same, as are curious shoppers across the country. Applications started might be a good measure for curiosity, but not necessarily coverage.

Most health insurance plans don't count shoppers as enrolled until they've actually submitted a check for their first month's premium. Some of these applications will not convert into enrollments, if shoppers decide they don't want to actually pay for the product.

Thanks for posting all the train wreck articles.

Rest assured that you are annoying the heck out of Obama worshipers by incessantly calling attention to the failures and lies.

Thanks. We need more truth from the Obama sycophant Media. Occasionally they tell the truth. It needs to be ‘all the time’.

The train wreck has yet to happen.

Remember, you have to answer an extensive questionnaire that includes you banking information, bank router and back account numbers, before you can preview any of the plans. Also, the web pages tell you flat out that they aren’t that secure and any information that you voluntarily provide will be shared with other Federal Agencies for whatever use they decide to make now and in the future.

Think about that folks - whomever and whatever they want to do with your banking information.

Interesting that the four states with enrollments over 5 digits don't have data for accounts created. California, Kentucky, New York, Washington.

In Washington, Costco sells Obamacare on Costco's own website. I don't have to go to the Obamacare website and create an account. Still haven't done it, though.

They’re calling a hit on the web site an application. If one can’t get on and continues to try they count every attempt as a separate application....they’re rigging these numbers big time. The only ones actually enrolling are the ones who are going to get free insurance or the few whose rates will actually decline. The yutes aren’t buying into it and without the yutes the thing goes down!!!

lol

since most people trying to apply have tried dozens of times unsuccessfully, you probably need to divide by 10 to get the actual number of people applying

Columnist David Freddoso estimates that between 75 to 80 percent of actual "enrollees" ( thus far ) are actually people signing up for Medicaid.

He says that the folks at the HHS know this and are panicking. O'care won't work with those kind of ratios.
