Former Vice President Dick Cheney defended the tea party's assault on Obamacare on Monday, calling it a "normal, healthy reaction" to President Barack Obama, whom Cheney referred to as the "most radical operator in Washington."
In an interview on NBC's "Today" show, Cheney said the tea party has been a positive influence on politics.
"They raised issues Americans care about," Cheney said. "We have terrible track records with respect to federal spending. Nobody seems to be able to solve the problem. It's an uprising, in part, and it's taken place within the Republican Party. I don't see it as a negative. It's better to have that turmoil and change in the Republican Party than it would be to have it outside."
He also defended Sen. Ted Cruz's actions during the government shutdown. "He represents the thinking of a lot of people in Texas," Cheney said.
Cheney, though, stopped short of calling himself a member of the tea party.
"I'm not a card carrying member," he said. "I don't think there is a card, but I have respect for what the people are doing. These are Americans. They're loyal, they're patriotic and taxpayers and fed up with what is happening in Washington. It's a normal, healthy reaction and the fact that the party is having to adjust to it is positive."

Cheney’s giving BHO the ole stink-eye. lol
See tagline.
I believe that was a direct quote from her Heinous, Sen Hillary Clinton. It was screamed though, not spoken.
A picture says a thousand words. Cheney has Obama’s number.
Please! That voice...
Do the RINOs even realize that the damage they did to any conservative-RINO coalition is irreversible? They either hand over the Republican Party or conservatives will leave, in disgust.
“If the Republicans had any smarts, they would at least start using the words smear machine all the time to bring to the attention of people the most used weapon in the Democrat arsenal.”
Amen to that, but don’t expect said “smear machine” to report it. I’m glad he mentioned taxes; they are the centerpiece of the TEA Party (Taxed Enough Already), and the media instead tries to tie the term to a broader anti-gubmint agenda.
I don’t get it. You don’t like Cheney?
“Ask not what your country can do for you.
Ask what you can do for your country”
Someone overlaid the audio of HRC with the Martian speech (”ack ack ack”) from Mars Attacks.
It fit very well.
Ack ACK ack ack...
Sprechen Sie Martian?
Yes, indeed. Even Hitlery screeched ‘dissent IS patriotic!’
But apparently, that’s only reserved for Democrats.
This is what those morons don't understand. They attack the "Tea Party" as if it's some dark individual. It's not, it's the American People and they are not smart enough to figure that out. They think if they talk bad about us we will just slink away like beaten dogs. What part of AMERICAN don't they understand. You push us, we push back. Harder. We won't slink away, we will stand in the ruins of Washington and not worry a bit because we are the ones who are capable of rebuilding it without receiving a government handout.
We build things, we make things, we make people rich and don't hate them for getting rich. We work from sun up to sun down and don't complain as along as we are left alone. They don't know about us because they have never participated in anything constructive in their lives.
The words of a statesman:
“It’s better to have that turmoil and change in the Republican Party than it would be to have it outside.”
That is the first statement, and I hope it won’t be the last, in giving proper due to the tea party supporters and may begin, just begin, the process of informing the R party leaders and elites of the destructive path they are on. The corrosive statements of the McCain’s and his ilk threaten to make this a one-party socialist governmental system and threates us with an economy like that of France but with less national pride or cohesion.
I was also pleased to see Ted Cruz sticking to his principles.
Despite the public vitriol spewing forth from the largest propaganda machine in history, the left is definitely annoyed by tea party support. 2008 was the last battle of a 100-year socialist war against Americans. The realization of the consequences of that disastrous victory are being felt in hobbled prosperity, failed gov’t health care, vast cronyism and looting of Americans’ hard-earned wealth, evaporating liberty, and vicious attacks on good and moral people.
The tea party people are the legacy of freedom...and they are gaining strength. They are being steeled by the attacks. They will not simply rest beneath their chains and take it. They are bringing in more supporters. They are gathering funds. The left is running out of insults and those insults are becoming tired old saws. The left is going to run out of fuel and will turn to more taxes and demand more money from the unions and leftist supporters. The left has an appetite for money that cannot forever be satisfied. Tea party and other Americans can run on little. The future favors regular, hard-working Americans. Keep up your spirits—outlast the left.
Still one of my favorite pictures of Cheney...
Fixed it.
