This can't be.
The Pope rejects "ideological Christianity."

Seems to me —emphasis on “seems”— at this point to
be a slight to Netanyahu.
But that may be a false impression. Have to wait and see...

On Thursday, PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas met with the pope and invited him to the Middle East. This has my attention. Overall I like the guy, but Israel is for me a litmus test. The pope did apparently meet with Shimon Peres.

A world leader will be in town, publicly says he's going to meet with the Pope, and the Pope publicly says it ain't happening.
Sounds like a "slight" to me.

Why did Francis meet with the PA head terrorist and not the prime minister of Israel? This Catholic wants to know.
And none of this “Rome has to pussyfoot with the Muslims in an attempt to minimize persecution of Christians in Arab lands”.
Well, it’s now all-out jihad against Copts, Chaldeans, Melkites, & any other Christian remnant in any Muslim midst, so maybe it’s time to speak frankly, Your Holiness?

Please tell me this isn’t true. I’ve been lied to before and I’m hoping the Pope will soon meet with Bibi.
To: Olog-hai
The Pope’s philo-semitic credentials are pretty bulletproof, so this can only be a case of his refusing to be manipulated by Bibi in the latter’s bid to gin up a war with Iran. I don’t Francis for refusing to sign on for a new middle eastern war, but IMHO he should have taken the meeting and told Bibi to his face. Couldn’t have hurt.
Don’t know how it was announced that the meeting was a done deal. Somebody screwed up.

A world leader publicly says he's going to meet with somebody, without first asking the somebody and confirming that he's able to meet with him, before opening his mouth. Sounds like a stupid mistake.

IF this is true, I find it outrageous that Pope Francis can’t find a spare half hour or thereabout to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu!

Just why exactly would Netanyahu need the Vatican’s support for a war with Iran, which, frankly, is a war that the US should have fought and won already?

Not Catholic so FWIW...I am done waiting. Pope Francis is nothing like his predecessor(s). Very disappointing!

I am outraged. And to think my husband ( who is Jewish) and I pray after saying our grace before our meals, “And God bless momma and poppa, the United States of America, the intentions of the pope, and {my husband’s business), Amen.”
I may have to suspend this special reference to him.

It seems to me that a pope who can have off-the-cuff interviews with atheists who write him letters, who can pop in to parish churches without notice, who can pay his own hotel bill, could find 10 minutes to meet with the leader of a democratic nation desirous to meet with him.

"Bibi"?
Now might be time to recall that the last pope called for clemency for Asia Bibi or Asia Noreen, a Christian Pakistani woman held in prison under sentence of death. She is still in prison.

A statement last week from Netanyahus office had said he would be meeting Pope Francis next Wednesday at the Vatican and with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry for updates on nuclear talks with Iran and negotiations with the Palestinian Authority. A diplomatic source on Sunday told AFP, however, that no such meeting with Pope Francis will be taking place. Ping for later
