MILLER: Washington National Cathedral used to attack NRA, destroy illegal guns
Washington Times ^ | October 20, 2013 | Emily Miller

The Washington National Cathedral, a symbol of unity among faithful Americans, was the site of a politically divisive event promoting gun control on Sunday.

Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president of the Children's Defense Fund, and the Very Rev. Gary Hall, dean of the cathedral, exited the church service to participate in a event based on a theme of “beating swords into plowshares.”

The gun-control leaders donned protective eye gear and took up hammers to bang on the gun parts that blacksmiths had turned red from heat.

Before the dramatic performance in Northwest Washington, I interviewed Mrs. Edelman about her goals.

“This is a public health crisis,” the longtime liberal activist said. “The NRA has blocked gun violence research, so most parents don’t know that having a gun in the home puts themselves and their children in more danger.”

“The NRA and the gun manufacturers are selling guns to people by making them believe it will make them safer!” she railed. “The gun manufacturers are even marketing guns for 4- and 5-year-olds.”

I asked where she saw those advertisements for guns for preschool children. Mrs. Edelman paused and then told me to call Josh Sugarman, a radical anti-gun proponent who founded the Violence Policy Center.

Mrs. Edelman seemed particularly animated when talking about the more than 5 million members of the National Rifle Association...

If I recall correctly, the Wash Nat’l Cathedral is actually an episcopal (?) church. It is not a building built by tax dollars. The elder Bush, in particular, jogs my memory as its being episcopal since he himself was episcopal.

As an episcopal church, they are beyond ultra-liberal. I wouldn’t be surprised to hear they’re having a gay sex demonstration in the kindergarten sunday school classroom.

For them, attacking the NRA is breakfast cereal.

A definite violation of the “wall of separation”. Somebody needs to go to jail.

The National Cathedral is home base to the sodomites controlling the fetid remains of the Episcopal Church. The hollow shell of a once relevant institution is being used by the LGBTI crowd to push all manner of left wing tripe.

"The Washington National Cathedral, a symbol of unity among faithful Americans..."

First sentence makes no sense.

The Washington National Cathedral, a symbol of unity among faithful Americans,
...........................................................
Whoa right there.

Washington cathedral is not a symbol of unity.

They have been marrying faggots there for a while now.

As far as I am concerned when you do not believe in the Bible, you are no longer a Christian Church.

The article’s claim that it’s a symbol of national unity is ridiculous. It’s an episcopal church. They’ve hardly been in the forefront of anything relating to unity...not nationally, not in Christianity, and not even in their own denomination.

The Episcopal church is a great place for atheists who want something to do on Sunday mornings to hang out.

Someone should explain to the Dean why we have freedom of religion in the United States.

Catholic Church sure lacks a lot of Christian values. Taking away the right of self defense is not a Christian value

Allah’s earthquake there did cause damage to the stone work. Plus he (a minion of Satan) toppled a crane there one wet windy day.

Mrs. Edelman paused and then told me to call Josh Sugarman, a radical anti-gun proponent who founded the Violence Policy Center.

Sugarman famously stated that gun control asshats need to lie, in order to confuse the public and make them compliant in banning all guns.

Of course, a previous group he founded was "The National Coalition to Ban Handguns."

The guy is a complete and total scumbag.

Isaiah 2:4

(NASB)

4 And He (Yah'shua) will judge between the nations,
And will render decisions for many peoples;
And they will hammer their swords into plowshares
and their spears into pruning hooks.
Nation will not lift up sword against nation,
And never again will they learn war.

When Yah'shua returns He will beat swords into plowshares.

Until then :

Joel 3:10 (NASB)
10 Beat your plowshares into swords
And your pruning hooks into spears;
Let the weak say, “I am a mighty man.”

Pull their NFP exemption, oh, wait, this is for a Democrat sponsored event. It’s OK.

I am surprised at the number of FReepers who don’t realize that corporate taxation is muzzling their church, a not-for-profit corporation authorized to exist by the IRS. What could be more invasive?

If we get rid of corporate taxation you end the IRS’s chilling control over thought- religious or political. Ironically, it is only people who pay taxes. Customers, end users, etc. are the ones that pay corporate taxes.
