1-800-ObamaCare-Denial, Website problems don't matter when your intentions are good

'More than a website" is the latest defense of the Affordable Care Act's painful rollout, and liberals are partly right. ObamaCare has larger ambitions than the basket case called Healthcare.gov and the 36 federally run insurance exchanges.
But building the website was supposed to be the easy part. The health law's fiasco of a debut doesn't inspire confidence in those other ambitions, such as re-engineering how U.S. medicine is provided, but it does help explain the modern liberal project.
But the exchanges fiasco is revealing the larger truth that ObamaCare's claim to technocratic expertise was always a political con. It won over the New Yorker and made ObamaCare designer Peter Orszag a celebrity. But it was all a veneer for ObamaCare's real goal, which is to centralize political control over health care.
That false front is clear now as we are told to ignore the faulty rollout because it will get fixed, eventually, and in any case the law is really about reducing inequality. At least now Democrats are being honest. The actual results will always matter less to liberals than their good intentions and expanding the reach of government.

What amazes me is that they bring in Verizon to help with Obamacare and everyone seems to have forgotten Verizon’s part in the NSA Domestic spying scandal.
Obamacare is just one more piece in the total American surveillance state.

actual results will always matter less to liberals than their good intentions Even their "good intentions" really aren't. The true underlying goal is not to help people, but to feel good about themselves for intending to help people.

I disagree. The underlying goal is to control people, building walls and fences if necessary, to keep them in. Just like the USSR.

Ah, we talk of the dichotomy of “liberalism”.
The ones you describe are the control freaks that seek power,
and the ones to which I refer are the sheeperals who reject God and seek their own righteousness.
The former use the latter.

Looks like Obamacare wasn’t as shovel ready as they thought.

Just had a meeting with our healthcare provider and things are so screwed up they really have no idea what is going on.
People's insurance policies are being canceled because they don't comply with ObamaCare rules and mandates.
They will mostly be pushed into the exchanges, which simply don't exist so they can't obtain new coverage
A lot of people are going to see their coverage canceled with no option to sign up for alternate insurance
This is all just to sign up for insurance.
Actually getting to see a doctor and using insurance is going to a big problem as well.

Gotcha...agreed.

Have you read Intellectuals by Thomas Sowell? I'd recommend anything of Sowell's but this one is on the topic that we've discussed.

No. Not sure if it is one of
these (Amazon) (or both, perhaps), but post a link to the specific book and I'll take a look.
To: mmichaels1970
Ah! I didn’t know he had out another one.
I was referring to Intellectuals and Society.
I’m sure they’re both good.

IMHO, the true underlying goal was actually achieved. Obama just grifted another 690 million from the taxpayers. A foreign firm with a proven record of failure was employed for $90 million to construct a website that by some estimates, could have been done for 1/90th of what the original estimated cost was. The actual cost came in at $690 million and the product is a failure.
Follow the money. What was the $690 million actually spent on? I believe it went toward programming of a different kind; election fraud programming.

Excellent question. I'm sure yet another "conspiracy" that the MSM won't waste a single manhour on.
To: mmichaels1970
And now, more money will be spent to ‘correct’ the website problems and no one will ask about the original 690 million. This will be evidenced when not a single finger will be lifted to go after CGI.

Back in the years when I was developing engineering software, my management didn’t seem to care how good my intentions were.
Performance, not intentions was the key to success.

Sad but very, very true. We should make T-shirts, 'Obama went $600 million over budget and all I got was this lousy 404.
