LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A Louisville man says he intends to run on the Republican ticket for Kentucky's 3rd Congressional District seat, currently held by Democrat John Yarmuth.
Dr. Michael Macfarlane said in a news release, "As a practicing physician and surgeon, I am extremely passionate about my profession, and would like to bring my vast experience in the healthcare field to Kentuckians, especially as we are faced with complications from the Affordable Care Act and its effects on Kentucky jobs and small businesses."
His website has a section marked, "Washington is broken," in which Macfarlane asserts, "It is clearer today than ever that Washington doesn't work. Millionaire politicians and rich corporations have taken over our government."
Dr. Macfarlane has practiced urologic surgery at Jewish Hospital, Norton Healthcare, and Baptist East. He's married with one daughter. He is also a Republican activist who is a longtime member of the state GOP's executive committee.
John Yarmuth has represented the Louisville area since 2007 when he defeated Republican incumbent Anne Northup.
Sarah Martin, Treasurer for Yarmuth for Congress, released a statement saying, "Congressman Yarmuth remains engaged in critical national debates over the federal budget and long-term strategies to grow our economy. There will be plenty of time for the 2014 campaign...

It would be nice for Kentucky to eject Yarmuth in the same year as the primary in which they eject Mitch McConnell.
Here’s hoping that 2014 turns out to be a VERY good year for Kentucky conservatives.
Jefferson County will never get rid of Yarmuth. It's like Montgomery County moved to Kentucky. The people are so stupid. The number of cars with "coexist" bumper stickers is repulsive.
I don’t think KY has more than 100,000 conservatives. People there just know to vote for names in the news.
If the GOP could get on the ball and win the State house and the governorship they would have the trifecta and they could do an early reditricting and split Louisville in the middle and easily take this house seat. Same with the Jim Cooper seat in nashville.
From what I know, only a single county (Hancock) in KY went for ObeyMe in 2012.
Is this wrong? If not, what the heck is wrong with the rest of ‘em? (somewhat rhetorical question)
Yarmuth was boasting about the money behind the amnesty push.
He is representing working class whites and blacks and wants to impose 50,000 or 100,000 foreign workers on Kentucky.
Yeah, and he is a big “10 round magazine” jerk.
