A 24-year-old Danvers High School teacher has been found dead, and a 14-year-old boy is being held without bail on a charge of murdering her.
Math teacher Colleen Ritzer’s body was found in the woods behind the school, said Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett.
Philip D. Chism was ordered held without bail at his arraignment this afternoon in Salem District Court. Judge Matthew Nestor approved funds for a mental competency evaluation. Chism is to be tried as an adult; a probable cause hearing was slated for Nov. 22.
Chism had been reported missing Tuesday after he did not return home from school. Ritzer was reported missing at about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday when she did not return home and did not answer her cellphone.
Police searched the school and found blood in a second-floor bathroom. Ritzer’s body was found later behind the school, Blodgett said in a news conference this morning at the high school.

What is it with these shooting lately? Some by accident (at least allegedly), and some intentional. Last week the Middle School shooting somewhere in the Mountain states I think.

I think I read earlier that the weapon was a knife.
I heard on the radio a few minutes ago that it’s believed she was stabbed to death.
Yes, early accounts said that she was stabbed to death, hence the blood at the scene.

Hate-crime charges should be added, but I’m not holding my breath.
And I read elsewhere it was a stabbing, no gun involved.
Probably not unlike the one that murdered the Sparks, Nevada school teacher just the other day.
Their culture is broken and dangerous.
