A teenager, charged with murder after his math teacher was found slashed to death with a box cutter, had hid out in the school with the weapon he stole from an art class, sources claimed tonight.
The body of Colleen Ritzer, 24, was found in woods behind Danvers High School on Wednesday morning after she was allegedly killed by 14-year-old student Philip Chism.
The small Massachusetts town paid tribute to the slain teacher on Wednesday night with hundreds of residents holding a candle-light vigil at the school where she died. Many students dressed in her favorite color pink and described her as a 'brilliant ray of light'
The community is desperately trying to understand what could have motivated such a senseless and brutal act.
Some details from Tuesday night's tragic events have started to emerge with many students saying that the killer hid inside the school after class before killing Miss Ritzer.
It is believed that he used a craft knife stolen from an art classroom to attack the math teacher after forcing her into a second-floor bathroom.

This kid was a recent transplant from Tennessee, with only a brief mention of his mother.
And his dad? Where, exactly, is he? Check the prison population to see if having a dad in your life also makes a difference.
For all we know he may be a nutjob, this can happen when you “mainstream” folks who should be in mental institutions.
Not saying this kid fits that mold, but I definitely have seen more than one kid in classes that should have been in a straight jacket in my day.
I’m anxious to hear about this kid’s background. Did the family move around a lot because he was a problem? So far all I’m hearing was that he was quiet, and a good kid....aren’t they all.
A running backhoe should be at the scene, to deal with the ‘leftovers’.
Feigned outrage by the race hustlers Jackson, Sharpton in five, four, three...not — I for one would like to see the national statistics on black on black, black on white, white on black, and white on white violence (rape, murder, assault/battery/carjacking). Not making any assumptions, but what do you suppose the statistics will tell us...hummmmmmm.

WOW! Sometimes I wonder if there is a compassionate bone in any of your bodies these days. Certainly a vicious crime; but do any of you have children? A freshman of 14 years old capable of committing this crime? The sadness that he, his family, his friends failed so miserably in that a child like this became so distant from God. And all I see here is hatred and venom. Truly sad indeed.

One year voters did approve it but it was overturned by the state legislature when one Peabody (next to Danvers) lawmaker, John Slattery was urged to change his vote. As I had said, Slattery Will Get You Nowhere.
But we are making progress; a recent law allows those of Chism’s age to be tried as an adult (and there are efforts to do this) especially if it’s a savage crime. Described as a mere child by his attorney, but he was not too young to do this crime. (Those convicted as juvies get to get out at 21 I think...)
Getting back to death penalty, one year a 10 yr old boy named Jeffrey Curley was lured into a car by 2 pedophiles who promised they could get him a bike (they had stolen his, I think). He was killed and sodomized AFTER HIS DEATH then his body was placed into a container and thrown into a river nr the NH/ME border. At first his father Robert was for the death penalty but he later changed his mind.
I feel bad for Robert Curley and I know there are some who object to the DP on moral grounds. I am not among them.

I have plenty of compassion....for the victim and her family.

You’re right. Sharia is stifling speech and the press there. Word is they’re going to start fighting back. IF it’s not too late.
As I understand it, it’s not just Moslems who can’t be mentioned, but also black people from various parts of the Commonwealth. Very similar to the situation we have here.
