I've wondered for some time if Snowden might have been recruited by the Russians when he was posted to Switzerland around 2007.

US government

Your overreach has hoisted you on your own petard!

UN is going to embarrass you

Merkel is livid

Couldn’t happen to a bigger bunch of dolts if you ask me

It's really just MetaData.

Nothing to worry about.

Is it so hard to believe that a citizen can come to abhor the absolute violation of our (and others’) basic rights that he/she has to do something about it, irrespective of Russian recruitment or not?

Personally, I believe our intelligence community consisting of 16 publicly acknowledged agencies received a boon in the form of post 9/11/2001 which was mainly focused on terrorism throughout the Bush years.

Unfortunately, this same community came under the command of Team Obama in 2009 and drastically departed its mission and activities since then.

I actually welcome these revelations and I hope they continue because we are not a nation of revenge and internal coercion as has been evidenced by Obama's manipulation of the IRS, State Department, et al, nor should be externally.

Until this government actually starts using valid intelligence information to create some substantive public good, like actually preventing some terrorist act instead of lying about it, then I hope worldwide attention is brought to this President's activities that are only focused nefarious intention.

So the government can’t keep their own top secrets ‘secret’ ... and people are entrusting them with their most personal and private medical information .... why? This is not going to end well on SO many levels, especially when the thugs in government start USING the info to force compliance with their latest ‘take-it-away-from-you’ scam and ‘we-now-totally-control-you’ scheme.

I don’t want to live in a Fascist state. NSA is enabling this by spying on us.

The headline is misleading a lie. Glenn Greenwald almost certainly has such documents, given to him by Snowden, but Snowden doesn't have them any more.

This is an effort by the US to see if one of those “other” intelligence services will take out Snowden so US won’t be linked to it. What they don’t understand is all hell will break loose if that happens. His handlers will be dropping enough dimes to balance the budget.

From the thread titled "Poison Photo-Drop (Releasing photos endangers US lives)"
To: Bobkk47

Before he is done I fully expect him [obama] to release the names addresses and phone numbers of anyone anywhere in the world who has ever provided any information to agency workers.

The damage to US intel will last multiple generations.

If obama really wanted Snowden taken out he would have long since been Hastings-ed or Breitbarted.

NSA domestic spying is unconstitutional.

If the govt were interested in catching terrorists they’d stop incoming flights from Yemen and similar places, deport any foreigners expressing jihadi feelings, and put the FBI on mosques and CAIR.

But instead the Feds supply weapons to al-Qaeda while claiming they need NSA to spot terror threats.

Guess the US is trying to get someone else to off Snowden. This bunch just loves others to do their blood work.

The fed gummint of the USSA has NOTHING to do with America and that disconnect seems to have started way earlier than most freeps realize.

If foreign dignitaries hock LOOGIES in the faces of our diplomats, well, I dont care at all; we embarrass them with our unsophisticated, democratic ways, and that’s fine because most of them are traitors who don’t know what America is all about anyway.

GOOD GOING EDWARD SNOWDEN.....!

I think this is more to provoke another less civilized
country to take the action against Snowden that they are
restrained from doing. In other words a contract on his
head. They cant take him out so they con someone else to
do it. Like the end of Scarface.

"I've wondered for some time if Snowden might have been recruited by the Russians when he was posted to Switzerland around 2007."

I've wondered the same thing about Obama. Also, the fact that Obama whispered that he would have more flexibility after the election came to mind when the Snowden thing happened. If Obama were trying to pass secrets to the soviets how would he do it? He doesn't personally have access to that secret info. He would have to recruit someone like Snowden to take it and then provide cover for them. I thought Snowden's actions of going to Hong Kong and then Russia were suspicious. If Obama, Snowden, and Putin were all in on it they put on a pretty good act. One thing I have learned in all my 64 years is that nothing is ever as it seems concerning gov actions. What we see and what we get from the media is for our consumption. What really happens we will never know.

Could be.

It seems nobody is asking the question, “How could such low level people get such high level access to so much high level, Top Secret intelligence information?”

Bradley Manning was a Private in low level position in a low level intelligence operation

Snowden Was a Contractor who had only been on the job for several months.

These guys had to had help and may have been cut outs for the real leakers in this Administration.
