If you've been wondering why Harry Reid has said that eliminating the sequester was the major objective of the budget negotiations assigned to the conference committee headed by Sen Patty Murray and Cong Paul Ryan, now you know.

No "grand bargain". Not even a "small bargain".

Harry intimated the choice for Republicans was either a.) dump the sequester or b.) the 'Rats would shut down the government...and blame it on Republican intransigence again.

Ryan's head, of course, is full of "Grand Bargain" sugar plums. It seems to have become a perverse obsession of his.

Would he give up the sequester -- avoiding yet another Obamacare embarrassment -- in return for a promise to open negotiations on a "Grand Bargain"?

Gawd, I hope not...
