WASHINGTON (AP) — Dick Cheney said Sunday that Republicans need to look to a new generation of leaders as the party deals with poor approval ratings following the government shutdown.
The former vice president said Republicans have faced challenges before and it’s healthy for the party to work to rebuild.
The GOP “got whipped” in the 2012 presidential campaign, when President Barack Obama won re-election over Mitt Romney, and the party needs to build its base of supporters and find “first-class” candidates and turn to a new generation of leaders, Cheney told ABC’s “This Week.”
“It’s not the first time we have had to go down this road and it’s basically, I think, healthy for the party to be brought up short, say, OK, now it’s time to go to work,” Cheney said.

Cheney strikes me as one of the few Repubs that is not a wussy.
Romney was from the left wing of the party and a substantial number of voters said, “hell no”. I am not sure Cheney endorsed him with much or any enthusiasm, if at all.

I remember Cheney's remark about Sadaam Hussein and his retreat from Kuwait--"the mother of all retreats." Hahaha, what a FABULOUS line and so very, very fitting for that arsehole Hussein, may he rot in H - E - double hockey sticks.

This man Obama has destroyed everything the United States stood for. It will take many years before other countries trust us again. It will take many years before we can trust our own Government. Everything Obama has touched has turned to sh*t.
Why should anyone fear a country with $17,000,000,000,000 in direct debt and $93,000,000,000,000 in unfunded liabilities to Medicaid & Medicare & social security & federal pensions?
No one can be a superpower with bankrupt balance sheet.

Obama is just putting the final nails in the coffin.
The demise as a superpower was unavoidable once people figured out they can get more free stuff by voting for democrats and compassionate republicans.
